Oh yes, that's probably the next big game that I'm waiting on truth be told! :D

Loved the PS2 versions so hopefully this will be fun!

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I was curious to see whether anyone has bought this yet. The reviews seemed to be a bit mixed but it would be nice to get impressions form someone who has the game.

Right then, in one word fantastic.

Got it on friday and been playing it all weekend. This is the first game I've had in a long time that I've had to train in, learning how to get good etc...
Now, I've never played any of the previous SSXs (sober) but this takes me back to the Gamecube Tony Hawk days - if you persevere, you'll be rewarded with a great big satisfied smile.

It is tough to grasp at first and it took me a while to actually co-ordinate - that's the big thing here, co-ordination. I think it's the first game on the Wii that really shows what kind of new experience it can offer as there were plenty of times where my arms were flailing about like a looney 'cause I lost all concentration trying to jump in time, hold buttons and instigate a trick with both arms seperately. This will be particularly telling when you try an uber-trick - these are bloody hard to do! I spent about an hour trying to get my first one (in the very helpful tutorial session) and I've only done two variations of them so far. Once you get them though, they are immensely satisfying and it soon becomes second nature to pull one off (though the later ones are going to take some trainning for!).

The graphics are the best I've seen on the Wii so far with lovely shiney effects and no framerate drops and a huge draw distance.

I'm very happy I got it and the two player is mind-blowingly addictive!

Thumbs up (and flailing all over the place :) ) from me.

Gah! I'm dying to get this, and smokingman's impressions just make me want it more! But I can't afford to get it till next payday which is Friday week :( I thought it was next Friday! :(

    *plays the waiting game... badly*

You'll have a tough decision time at payday Damo; Godfather, Heatseeker, Blazing Angels, MoH:Vanguard and a few more are out that day as well as far as I know.

The decision is clear to me, it's gotta be SSX.

I spent 9 months living and working in Whistler in Canada back in 2001/2002 and loved snowboarding.

Actually, if any of you still have 1080 Avalanche, you'll see the Whistler Blackcomb logos all over the place. Think it was a kinda give/take deal, as the parks on the mountain were sponsored by Nintendo.

As a side note, you can pick snowboard OR skis for your character - you're not confined to using certain characters with skis.

Like real life though, I much prefer the board.

Just got the game yesterday and it is well worth it. im a huge fan of the previous titles. The learning curve, especially for the Ubertricks, is steep but i have the basic tricks down already, thanks to the pactice modes.
The graphics are also very good.
I do have a few small problems though. I have the past two SSX games and so on BLUR i was dissapointed to find that (so far) the tracks are basically a mix from the other games just packaged slightly different...
The only other thing that kind of p!sses me off is that when doing an Ubertrick you cant pick your own, you have to do the one thats on the screen and at the beginning thats hard.
All in all its a great game,
    8(half)/10

Dude, you don't have to do the one on the screen - try it, it's meerly a suggestion of doing one. I've only got two that I can do so far and even though the crazy one comes up, it still does the trick if I try one of my two.

    OK first impressions...

I've only played an hour or so but wow this game is challenging. The leveling situation roughly follows the SSX norm but the added bonus this game has is that there is no hit X and left and R2 blah blah blah aspect to it. To pull off a decent trick you have to be patient and LEARN the how to do it without looking like you're trying to swing from one branch to another.

At first I was a little overwhelmed by the task I had to try to play (remember I am still suffering with my nuero problems) but after 25 mins. or so I managed to grasp what i was doing. I still haven't pulled off a clean variation of an uber trick but I'm sure that with more playing it will become easier to do so.

Graphically I agree with Edza, the game shows up really sweet on our HD TV, like REALLY sweet. It's nice and bright and so impressive that I'd use this game to showcase the Wii to someone who had never seen any game play.

Current Opinion : Amazing game, brilliant buy

That was yesterday, I played loads last night and I'm still failing badly at ubertrick:( All in all though it's a fantastic game.

Yeah your right... you can even do combos if your fast enough. Still, there are no new tracks and im on the the 3rd peak now!!! Im really enjoying it but i think SSX 3 is still the best of the series. there was more in that game IMO.

If it's any consolation, I'm still having problems with every uber-trick other than the heart and Z ones...

Does anyone know where in the game you can see what ubertricks you have or can use?

I know you have to collect loads of the uber-trick tokens all over the mountain in free roam mode but I'm not sure if I have a lot of them.

You can see all your ubertricks in the pause menu, just scroll down the list. You need to collect about 20 different tokens for each trick, it's a pain.
