I'm looking for a bit of a change of direction in my employment.

When writing a cover letter for my CV, or when sending an email enquiring about work. How do I go about saying that I don't have direct experience in the area that I'm applying for, but still not put myself down at the same time.

    Any ideas.

Don't say what you can't do, just say what you can do and experience/skill (Communication, dealing with people etc. etc) that you do have that would be good for the job, even if not directly. It's the worst thing to put negatives in a CV/Cover letter, tell them the skills you have and let them decide if you are right for the job or not. But don't lie!

in college we just had a session about with the career advisors and i can tell you what they told us.

basically since when we graduate most of us will not have any experience and i suppose the situation is similar to urs.

the fact that u dont have experience u dont state it on the cv or letter . there ,ur meant to put ur intersts on why ur applying for a particular position
and ur meant to research info about the company and the position.

then at the interview if they ll call you and they ask u if you have any experience you say that unfortunately you do not but you are willing to put the effort into it and you are a fast learner

    Thanks.
Wasn't sure if should put it down or not. Must think about how I will word this and type it tomorrow.
It is for a job I think I fairly confident I could do, part of it would have been similar to my old job but the rest would be totaly new ground.
Anyway, time to think about a postive letter.
