Cool, but how long before Nintendo break it with a firmware update?
I'll give it a few months before grabbing it, just to be safe!

    Whats the version number?

No version number is listed, and it has a different start up screen.

But its unmistakeable as it has a "Works With Wii" logo on the front and small doc inside with Important Please Read Me

"When using this product on a Wii console - please ensure that the dis is inserted on the disc channel loading screen"

Insert the disc and select START when prompted.

It works with Wii yeah, but the thing is, does it just work with Gamecube games on the Wii, or Wii games?

the very first free loader version works on pal wii. the new freeloaders have all three versions on them.

    Direct from Datel.

    www.codejunkies.com

    £20 / €30

Expensive, but worth it to me because of the amount of cube games I have.

And yes. This is only for the CUBE part. Remember posters the cube is practically entirley seperate from the wii, hence why you cant go back to wii when you have booted cube.

Is there a way for the Freeloader people to upgrade the firmware or whatever on freeloader after purchase (or would they do this) in case Nintendo break it.

Nintendo have never updated the firmware on DS but they will be doing it for Wii. It may not contain new security updates however to protect against things like freeloader. Sony do them for PSP and will probably do them for PS3 so don't be surprised if Nintendo do it for DS.

No you cant upgrade the freeloader via a software download.

As it doesnt effect the Wii and as it doesnt allow import Wii games to play, I cant really see that nintendo would be bothered.

They never ever objected to Freeloader anyway.

They upgraded the Cubes to try and curve piracy and modding that took place towards the end of it's lifespan. Not to stop import games.

It's just that breaking freeloader was an accidental consequence.
