    Hi all,

I'm selling my current 4x4 soon and I am looking for something to replace it. Top of the list so far is the Landcruiser VX, either a late 80 series or early 100. Either way it will be commercial, with the rear seats etc removed.
I was thinking of an X5 3.0TD also. Do you think one could be bought for under 20k as a commercial? From the north or the UK? €50 to register one commercially, and I dont mind not having rear seats.

    What do you think, possible?

Having a look through the usual UK selling sites, There are a few 01 X5's around the 12k-13k sterling. That makes €20k possible for a commercial I reckon.

Junkyard's your man for this one. As most 02 X5 passenger vehicles are still making 40k+ on the forecourt, it'll be all out to get one for less than 20k, but if you manage it, I'll be very very impressed (and jealous) myself!

    €20K, not likely.

If you can get an X5 commercial for €20k get me and Junkyard one each aswell.

I doubt you'll get one for that kind of money. I'm selling my 2006 X5 commercial on carzone.ie at the moment.:)

Well after a bit of searching a €20k commercial 3.0i petrol is definately possible as a comm. The diesels seem a bit pricer, but I'll keep looking ;)

You should try the salvage yards in the U.K. you'll be surprised what you might find there, especially if you want to commecialise it.

It would definately be commerical. Proper job with the seats out. Not bothered trying to con the vrt.
Have you any links to the salvage yards?
You seem to be the bmw guru on here Junkyard :D What do you think is a realistic entry into a Uk sourced X5 3.0d sport as a commercial?

No sign of an X5 to fit the bill at the mo.

But you could keep an eye on these...

You could always try converting this to a commercial! :D

Here's a VX that has just sold at a "trade only" web auction, don't know if it's too old for you. If your interested the Auction house might pass on your details to the winning bidder, if you ask nice!

That looks nice but is suspiciously about £5k cheaper than the going rate!

    I found this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-BMW-X5-3-0D-SPORT_W0QQitemZ230076310960QQihZ013QQcategoryZ9837QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Its about £12K cheaper than the going rate!! It doesnt have the comms pack, but that wouldn't cause it to be so cheap. Do you reckeon that these are absolute bargains or are stolen and recovered, insurance write offs or scams? I'd just always be a lot more cautious of ebay than auto trader!

I'd be suspicious of both as they are email contacts only.

Could be a scam or stolen or have outstanding finance, hence my warning to check it out....

Yeah, I saw both of those. Suspicious looking to say the least. Funny how both sellers names end with "31" and accounts were set up within two days of each other!!!

Any joy in the hunt for the X5 Cmar?

I enquired with a guy in the trade in the UK about an X5 and this was the reply...

As for an X5 at that...forget it, not a hope in hell! Car theives pay trade money for heavy damaged wrecks, all for an ID. I have a friend in the Police Stolen Vehicle Squad. They recently targeted X5's for one evening. Out of 24 that they pulled up on a Saturday evening in Luton, 11 of them were ringers!

So thread very carefully when buying an X5 in the UK!

Nope, not looking for one anymore. I've read a lot of bad reports about them. The hunt is on for a Landcruiser Amazon. I'm gonna stick with Toyota !
