I was stuck during this hand, there's 9 tickets, 11 left, I've a similar stack to the raiser and I'm just after doubling up with qq vs aq in the previous hand. if I fold I can probably scrap through, if I win I can "turn off the computer and go to bed", if i lose I'm out. Alot of raises have been getting through, and my image is probably of a lump of granite.

Spent 30secs thinking of what to do, still dunno if I made the right decision.

Ugh...Don't like a fold here. You could push, but he will only call with AA // KK //QQ // AK I would have thought. You could call the raise and push any non - overcard flop. I dunno what I would do...players will steal blinds - even at this stage of the satellite.

I dunno, he's stuck a third of his stack in, so he's fairly committed, so I think his range would be a bit wider, it was an odd place to be, middling stack with a decent but not lock hand with 2 places to go...

TrippyH1ppy made the same type of play against me with 77 earlier in the comp in a $24,000 pot. He raised to $1,000, someone re-raised all in to $2,200 and I called (hmmmm...) in the SB with AA (trying to play a big pot). We checked the flop of 85X and the turn was 6. He bet, I raised all in and he called. He hit his 7 on the river.

On the strength of this, it was highly likely that you were miles ahead here. I would probably push - but then again i'm an awful satellite player. That particular guy is a big winner in the 20/40 NLH and donates a bit in the 10/20 PLO. I just thought his range here is huge - and includes complete crap. Raise - Don't bother calling and pushing - too dodgy.

He was on my table at the start, and was talking abouut his 20/40 exploits, so I wasn't too surprised to see him build a decent stack pretty quickly, pity he was on my left. anyway i did see him make pretty odd calls so i should have remembered his range would be wide here :o

    Tricky spot.

If the stakes allowed it i prefer a call. They don't in this spot and if you call and push there's too much in the middle for him to fold.

So it's push or fold and it depends on how the table is and how low the short stakes are. Can steal your way to a ticket or will you need more chips etc

You made the right move, you won your ticket. In a satellite results based thinking is fine I think, even though I can feel your pain at this hand.........

Don't like calling here. Its either push or fold. If it was a regular MTT payout structure I am pushing here. As its a satellite, I am inclined to fold in this spot and pick off a few blinds over the next few orbits to secure my ticket. I don't want any races at this stage.

Not sure what you did in the end but it worked ! Well Done.

That was a right dilly of a pickle, you are really stuck between a rock and a hard place and I think its just one of those hands where you can justify it either way. I'm never a fan of results based thinking but if you had folded the hand and been blinded away to a shorty it might of effected some of the big stacks heads and they wouldnt of gone after each other as they appeared to do. Also if you had called and lost you would probably not be a happy camper.

He called with A10 didnt he? I know there was a lot in the middle but there is no way he can think he has two overcards in this situation especially with you doubling up the previous hand and it is a satellite at the end of the day, I think what you went all in with was the best he could of hoped for when he called it.
Poor call imo by the villain. 18k was still a playable stack.

tbh I don't think a fold would be bad, maybe if I'd a little more I might have. my heart sank when he insta-called and I thought I was in deep trouble, was surprised for him to table a10o. i guess the fact that he was utg+1 committed him further to the hand.

to be honest it was an aggravated call by trippyhippy - he had been a monster stack and it dwindled badly - utg at this stage in the game A 10 is either a Push or Fold hand in my book. You push and you get better hands to fold, you put in a gimpy looking bet, somebody else pushes and your forced to call with what is likely a dominated hand.

Having been on the same table as NFR close to the end of this tourney, I can confirm that the support from the rails is both irritating and intimidating :)

As for the hand I think u played it well, unlike the villian who imo made a poor raise and a poor call. Glad it turned out ok for you.

    Well done all!!
lol, the railing was great, really made a big difference, and I'd say the table was wondering who the hell I was!

i probably would have folded but then my nerves are shot in these one off the ticket mtt things.
If you're happy to take a 50/50 to double up then go for it. Turns out you where way ahead, then when his ace fell, way behind, then when the jack fell, way ahead again. I hate 50/50's. I don't even like 60/40's.
now 70/30's, thats a whole different game of poker!
    congrats. lucky fecker.

I think you would of had to have been on the table to understand what your play was - I was watching it closely and tbh at the time the raise looked like that of somebody who was trying to take down the blinds without having to commit their stack.

Ultimately he did commit his stack but at the wrong time. He pushes from UTG and PL folds JJ and smaller pocket pairs, AJ folds, AQ potentially folds, A 10 and worse folds. QQ is the first PP I consider calling his push with, KK/AA/AK are the only hands Insta call a push with from TrippyHippy in this hand.

If trippyhippy posted this hand up here from his perspective he would be told that he played it very poorly imo.

Do u think there's a chance my long dwell up made him believe I had a pp and it was a race, I think anyone else at the table would have insta-called with jacks.
