strange symptom of laptop audio device

    hope boardies can give me a hand,i will be so grateful...

    recently format my laptop...:rolleyes: everything goes fine...but then strange thing happens...

    as soon as i can hear all system sounds come out(opening ,shutting down,etc.)and i am able to played video,music,everything goes fine...

    but after a period of time(which in this perios of time i didnt play any audio),i couldnt play any music or video anymore!but system sounds are still working.i am forced to restart the laptop so it can be fine again.

    checked the sound control in the control panel...:rolleyes: it told me that there is nothing...:o i cant do any changes as there is no option for me!seems like i suddenly lost my sound device!!(but all system sounds are still fine)

    any help would be very appreciated...:o

    Try reinstalling the sound card driver.

    If the system sounds are working, but music isn't, that points to a problem with Media Player. You can specify the output device in Media Player - have a look in the Options menu, it's in there somewhere.

    It sounds like (no pun intended) the system sounds are being sent to your speakers, but music and other sounds are being send to another device.

    i did the driver reinstalling of course...but thats before i posted this thread...:o

    i tried to install a few codecs for the audio output...and it seems working smoothly now...:rolleyes: (i am still abit worry the symptom comes out...)

    hope this solve the problem...:o

    anyway,thanks a lot ,guys!!^_^
