I am following an American recipe and would appreciate advice on the following:

    Is all-purpose flour just plain?
What weight is a tablespoon of unsalted butter equal to?

    Thanks in anticipation.

Aye, all purpose flour is plain flour. For most places the standard tablespoon measurement is 15ml. This means that 1 tablespoon of butter is around 15g.
