I have my digibox set to prompt me when Vertigo starts a bit later on, which is my fav Hitchcock flick. Got me thinking, with such a wide career that AH had, what is your favourite of his films and why?

Alot of people will say psycho, which is a classic but i find its quite dated now. I love vertigo though. Stewart plays such a neurotic obsessive character and although he needs medical help, we still empathise with him. The tension that AH creates throughout the film is something else. Although i do giggle a little at the scene with stewart's head and the lovely colours surrounding him! (my lovely horse did a homage on Father ted)

And while speaking of AH, i love the way he shot his trailers, the Birds being my fav trailer.

Two to scare the sh*t out of me - Psycho and The Birds. Both especially on first viewings (was very young when I first saw Psycho), subsequent viewings loose their shock value. But both excellent movies.

Two with clever naratives - Dial M For Murder and Strangers On A Train. Just both really great clever films with good twists in them. Loved them both.

They'd be my favourites. But most of them are very good with honourable mentions for The Lady Vanishes, Rebecca and Rear Window.

My two least favourites though would probably be ones that a lot of people wil quote as their favourites - Veritgo and North By Northwest. Both just seemed silly and required too much suspension of disbelief for my taste.

Haven't seen that many Hitchcock films. Just never really got around to it.

Psycho -- from the few I've seen, this is my favourite.
    Rope -- also very good.
Vertigo -- didn't like it. Think I was expecting something else.
The Birds -- didn't like it at all. Totally over rated in my opinion. Maybe it's a 'good for the time' sort of film?

    And that's all I've seen.

interesting you say that, although what qualifies as "suspension of disbelief". E.g. do you dislike all sci fi films?
