hey i recently downloaded limewire basic for free and it was working fine but it just stopped now! Ive checked and its not blocked by any firewalls or anything? it loads up and when you enter for example a bands name it appears to be loading but nothing is appearing on the list of sources? Anyone know what is going on with it?

Probably best to get chuck it, its probably riddled with viruses anyway.

It is probably because you are on eircom. And eircom is experincing some problems atm. Rather big ones too. Same with irishbb and a few others. Transit problems iirc.

Dont use this program mate, its gonna shag your pc senseless and probably give u a few anal viruses in the process :D.

Port forwarding is probably what you need. Have a gander on google, there's loads of tutorials

Took me ages to get it working, its just a case of forwarding the ports. Find out the make and model of your router and then go here: http://portforward.com/routers.htm

one quick thing... you'd better seed, sick of those damn leechers

Oh and another thing, just because a torrent has a brazillion seeds does not mean you are going to get a good download speed. To work out roughly if your speed is going to be good you need to do a ratio between the number of seeders to leechers. If there are way more leechers than seeders then you are going to be waiting quiet a while for that file. The more seeds to leechers the better (although it is a rarity on public trackers, private trackers ftw ;))

Also a good way to test your connection with torrents is to start a download of a linux torrent (any flavour, they are all heavily seeded) this should max out your connection in a matter of minutes and let you know if you need to configure ports, set firewall access.. all that jazz. You can cancel the linux download once you are happy with the transfer rates.

Also, use azureus. It has to be the best client out there. uTorrent is good too.
