Playing 1/2 PLHE last nite in the Fitz.
Very first hand Hero $200 Villain covers
    I'm in BB and there's 7 limpers i check Ah2h.
    Flop comes Ac8c2s,
SB bets out 7, I raise to 20. Folded around to SB he calls.
Turn comes 10d. He checks i bet 40, he pushes.
Hand is standard but is this a automatic call, fold, ?

call - you will be ahead too often in the fitz.

Lloyd, do you reckon fitz players bluff CR a lot or over value hands?

Whats your read on the SB? Have u played with him before is he a fitz regular etc? With the general standard in the fitz i wouldn't be surprised to see T8 or maybe KcTc!!

What's wrong with a KcTc semi bluff in that spot? I think that would be a great play. Especially when the OP's most obvious holding is two pair. The 10 is bound to be a scare card. If you're called you've 11 outs, but you will more often than not take it there and then.

i think its a fold....depends on the player though aswell......it looks 2 me like ace 8 or outside chance of ace 7.....i dont think ace 10 is an option as that would have been raised by most players oop in the fitz.

Id never played with the guy before and all i could go on was the way he was looking while i thought about it. I eventually folded putting him on A10. I showed A2, hoping in turn he would show me his A10 to confirm but he didn't....... he showed me AJ instead. I thought he played it well if he knew he was infact behind.

turning tp into a bluff/shoving when your behind is hardly playing it well.

It can be an excellent advanced move but we can be pretty sure that wasn't the sb's intentions.

If he did this with 78o I'd say wp.

    *cough*

I was amused when I saw this thread this morning.
I'm the villain in this hand.
I lead out into 7 limpers to see if any Ace rags connected.
When the BB raised, I put him on two pair, A8, A2 or 82. By the time the action got back to me I'd decided to float the club draw.
The OP said this was the first hand, but in fact we'd had two orbits at this stage, and I had already pegged him as solid, so when the 10 came off, and if my read was correct, I figured this would be a scare card for him and he'd be good enough to lay down to a check raise.
If he did this with 78o I'd say wp.

The fact that I had AJ didn't really matter after the flop raise.
He showed it so that you could then know that he is better player than you because he bluffed ya - bluffing is what poker is all about isn't it?? That, and spotting tells of course.

    LOL, I don't know why I showed. I honestly don't normally, I've no ego.:)

I said at the time i thought you played it well, and that i thought you knew where you were in the hand. the only thing was maybe you took too long to shove and that nearly got me to call.

Yeah, I did take too long, I suppose I was hoping for a club turn, but the 10 made me re-evaluate, and the more I thought about it, the more I felt it was a perfect card to represent.

I'm not sure if I'd agree with Lloyd on this one, although he would have more experience than me of cash in the fitz, I would reckon a fold here is correct 9 times out of 10. In my experience most players only check raise when they have a total lock.

I think this is pretty awful if you put the guy on two pair. If I put a guy on top pair I will pretty much never try bluff him.

What if you felt your opponent was solid enough to lay down though?
We had only played two orbits I know, but it was enough for me to feel I'd get this through.
It was a gamble, and a move I would only have made against the OP and one other player at that table.
