Freesat cards - is there any difference...?

...between this one that satone.tv sell for £30 and the one sold by www.freesatfromsky.com for £20?

I'm heading over to the UK in a couple of weeks; am I right in thinking that I could just buy one over the counter (they say you can buy it 'from large Comet and Currys stores and most independent retailers'), get my mate there to activate it in his digibox, bring it home and slap it into my own box (no sub, not connected to a phone line)?

    Thereby saving myself £12 (incl. satone's £2 p&p)?

It will activate (or used to) in any Digibox. Though you may have to phone sky.

Only Sky supply the cards. If it is from anyone else, it is a resold Sky card. The Cards are supplied for a fee. They are not sold. The remain property of BskyB/NDS.

They differ by region. e.g. which BBC & ITV is on 101, 102 103 and 104 (Ch4 or S4C~Digidol, with C4 on a different number in Wales).

103 is only UTV on NI postcode cards.

Cheers, watty. So — rather than put the card into his digibox, should I give him the details of my own digibox and have him call Sky to activate the card (once I get back home, have the card in the box and the box turned on)?

Well, at the moment, it won't matter which box one of these cards are activated on, the card will work and decrpyt the channels on any box. Not box specific.

The one sold by satone is already active.
