    Hi all!
Im off to New York at the end of February for a weekend of shopping, its my first time going to NY!!
Im gonna spend the saturday in an outlet and found Woodbury on the web... it looks great, but a mate told me that I should go to the Jersey Gardens accross the river cos there cheaper with no Tax.
Problem being that the shops dont look as good there
Has anyone been there before who could advise me?
Also, should I bring my suitcase on wheels with me shopping to pack all the stuff in so I dont have to carry all the shoes & boots or is that just sad? (be nice!!!)
    Thanks a mill
    Emma:p

    Hi.
I'm just back from New York.
I would advise going to Woodbury. I found it was pretty good. Lots of people did bring wheely suitcases. The busfare out there is pretty steep though.
Woodbury is nice as it's very spaced out. You never feel like there's many people there.
You can get some get discounts there, depends on what you're looking for.

Other outlet shops in NYC to look out for are Century 21, Loemans, Filenes, DSW. Personally I didn't like any of the stuff there but some people get great bargains.

My friend has been to both Jersey Gardens and Woodbury and thinks Woodbury is much better.

    hi!

im just back from NY and tested the outlets. gotta say thought woodbury was the biggest time waster ever and not so good. jersey gardens was better. however, the outlets there are just selling stock that theyre trying to get rid of so not such a great selection. though give it a try and have a look. depends on what youre looking for really?

Kind of their reason for existing. I like Woodbury, I must say, but it really depends on personal taste which you prefer.

Woodbury common is excellent, alot of choice and laid out in village style so not cramped. Top shops like timberland, ck, polo sport, etc etc.
You will easily spend the entire day there..

tbh having just been there it really depends on what you are looking for i found that woodbury was the more upmarket clothes gucci, armani and the likes i also found gettin home a pain in the neck as everyone leaves around the same time, as for jersey gardens i found it alot more relaxed the shops were all fine i managed to get more than enough we originally planned to stay from ten til 2 as we heard it was a bit crap but then all stayed the extra 4 hrs well worth the 11 dollars return bus fare.

You can go the the actual web sites of the outlets and look at a list of the brands in each, and make your decision based on how they would cater to your own tastes.

Jersey Gardens is in New Jersey (obviously) so has no sales tax on clothes. Woodbury is in NY and so has about 7% tax on clothes.

Some outlets do not sell seconds or surplus, but manufacture cheaper versions of their main lines specifically to sell through their outlet stores. They might have e.g. a cashmere jumper for $100 in their main stores, and then sell a wool or cotton version for $40 through their outlets.

I'm heading over next week with a few others, five in total. One thing I found is that it is incredibly cheap to hire a car for the day - it works out at around $25 each for a large SUV, with GPS, including petrol (gas?) for five of us. And of course there is plenty of room in the boot.:)

Having researched both, Woodbury looks the better, with more choice.

I've been in Jersey Gardens, its excellent, all under one roof so no worrying about the cold, very cheap, you also get a book of vouchers if you are a tourist, lots of nice restaurants to rest in. Would also bring bag on wheels as suggested..you will buy lots!
