Failed recordings in Sky+ ???

    Hi Folks,

So the Sky+ installed happened this morning - installer was unlucky and the LNB proved to be faulty - discovered by me 10 mins after he left - my diagnosis being almost entirely based on the big blue screen saying "No Satellite signal is being received".

Bloke came back and the signal strength grey bars were showing but would then suddenly disappear saying "No satelite lock" Installer replaced LNB and perfomed the Housekeeping routine etc. - Tested it very quickly as was an unscheduled stop and then disappeared in a mad rush.

I Q'd 6 recordings and went back to work.

Recording #1 failed saying FAILED ?
Recording #2 Said part record and mentioned "No signal" in the reasons area
The other four seem to have been ok?

I've noticed the picture stuttering at times though when flicking channels but have not been home to check properly as am at work and had only 5 mins at the time.

    I was wondering:

    How often do recordings fail?
Is the LNB not set up properly do ye reckon?
Read on diff. forum that if it is angled incorectly it may have trouble with some Satellites in the Astra Cluster and be fine for others?
Do I have grounds to call Installer back based on this - I want to get this sorted ASAP.....

    Sounds like misaligned dish.

Thanks for the replies folks - Installer is due back today - he mentioned replacing the Sky+ box this time - will mention dish alignment as maybe it got moved slightly as part of the LNB swapout etc. etc.

    Appreciate the advice :)

I get failed recordings from time to time, turn off the box, disconnect the two cables feeding from dish and reconnect them, all fine afterwards...
