    Hey all,

Just purchased new plasma tv and to do it justice plan to subscribe to a digital tv package. I'll be quiet content with rte, bbc, utv etc. The usual terrestrial channels. Anybody got any advice on wether to go for chorus or sky? Any replies greatly appreciated.

for picture quality i would go with Sky

downside (if you want UTV) is that you need to tune it in manually
upside is that all the BBC's and all the ITV's are completely free through Digital Satellite

ugh... I can't stand Chorus. Had it at my apartment and now my parents have went against my recommendations and gotten it and are running into all the same issues I had.

The interface, compared to Sky, is abismal. There are so many flaws with it compared to sky that I don't even know where to start. My advice go with sky, chorus to me is basically just normal TV but a lot more channels. Digital to me should have an efficient way of looking up the TV schedule and finding detailed info about the program thats on, which imo Chorus does neither.

I also found some days that the on the chorus box would be out by about an hour for different channels, and there was no way of manually rectifying this. Also the service tended to go down sporadically during the day during the week.

It's cheaper for a reason. My advice would be to find a friend or relative that has chorus and test out the interface. If you can live with it then go for chorus, if not Sky is the way to go.

    thanks there,

doesn't seem to be much support out there for chorus. sky is working out cheaper too. €21.50 a month for basic digital package which i will be content with plus free installation and box, as opposed to €28 from chorus. thanks again for the post.

If your just after the RTEs/BBCs and UTV etc, you best bet is to get a Free To Air Box and dish and a UHF/VHF aerial installed. There would be an initial outlay of approx 200 euro (Guess!). But no monthly fees after that !

Or just cancel your Sky sub after 12 months.

Digital TV would have the advantage of RTE being in anamorphic widescreen
