I have a 26" Philips which I'm happy with except for the fact that while you can change from standard to widescreen and back on TV inputs, you cannot change aspect ratio from "widescreen" on Component or HDMI inputs.

I have a HDMI DVD player and I can't watch old movies, or TV programs, that are in 4:3 ratio without it being stretched. I probably would not have bough the TV if I had known this, as I watch a lot of DVDs of TV series.

Don't know if this TV does that, but I've read that other Philips TVs apart from mine do. Certainly something to check out.
