Did you buy a warranty with it? I think it should come with a 1 year warranty at least anyway.

He said it was his fault, so unless you took out their extended insurance, sorry, you'll have to pay - and it'll cost you close to if not the same as the price of a Ei systems laptop new! Laptop screens cost a fortune to replace...

If you broke it yourself accidently then I doubt any standard warranty would cover it. As Havok said, laptop LCD's cost a small fortune but you have a few options.
    1. Contact PC World. They may be willing to get one for you, cheapish.
    2. Check your home insurance. It may be covered.
    3. Remove the LCD display from the casing and check it's make and model number on the back. The same models are used by different manufacturers. If it's a fairly common one you may get it for reasonable money.
    4. Remove the lid completely, buy an external LCD and use it as a desktop pc.
