i stuck a thread in the bank section but no one replied.
Maybe someone here could help ,how do I go about transfering funds from my bank account to my paypal account.
I just set up the paypal account and I don't have a credit card.

Excuse the cheek of a non photo related thread.

    Thanks

Irish members can only transfer from a credit card or from payments you have received into your paypal account. At this moment you cannot transfer from your own account into paypal but you can transfer funds from paypal to your bank account.

First off you upgrade to a business or premier account, then you register one of your bank accounts with paypal. But as far as I know the facility to do that is not available in Ireland. I just tried and maybe I missed something but I couldn't do it.
How do I add funds to my non-U.S. PayPal account?

If you are a PayPal member from Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, or you have a confirmed U.S. bank account, you can add funds to your PayPal account using a bank transfer.

To add funds to your PayPal account from a bank account in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, or Switzerland, click the Add Funds tab, click Transfer From (Your Country's) Bank Account , and then follow the remaining steps.

This is the official response for Paypal.ie

"PayPal does not currently offer the ability to add funds from your bank account. When you make a payment, PayPal charges the buyer's credit card and instantly credits the seller's PayPal account"

Now I am not sure if you can add a Laser card in the credit card details - If you have one, give it a try

Thanks for the replies on this. I'll probably have to bite the bullet and get a credit card.

I have registered with 3V ,but i was under the impression that i'd be constantly left with small amounts left on the cards that i wouldn't be able to use.
I've never actually activated the 3V card I got though ,so i don't know.

I've used my 3v card for Paypal so its not a problem. Only thing is you get charged a fiver every time you add funds to the card, and then charged by paypal to transfer the funds. So I paid someone a tenner last week and it cost me 17 quid:eek: Plus you can only pay up to €350 in any one transaction on 3V, and most places won't let you split a bigger transaction.

If you're not going to use it often its great. I know if I got a Visa I'd bankrupt myself in about 0.002 seconds. Paypal won't let you pay any other way though. I wish they'd get on the ball and sort out the Irish customers. Mind you, when I lived in the UK it wasn't much better. It took about a week to transfer funds to and from the bank account anyway.

I presume then that you have to continually change the card number your PayPal account is linked to, since you effectively get a new 'virtual' card each time you you buy a voucher for the 3v card? Is that difficult at all, and do PayPal get suspicious if you do it too regularly?

given that you have to authorise a card when you add it to paypal (by entering a string of digits that will appear on your credit card statement), I can only imagine what a frighteningly massive pain in the ass it'd be to have a number that keeps changing.

Actually I didn't have to do anything like that. I remember trying to use 3V for paypal a few months back and ran into this problem but not recently. I just added the credit card and away I went, and then deleted and added the new one when I got the next 3V voucher. I haven't authenticated the account so maybe thats why. Maybe that's why they charged me so much for the transactions too. I've only done it a handful of times so no backlash from them.

afaik, if you dont authorise the card, youre limited to EUR100 per transaction. Not a problem if youre not a big spender I guess...

Once you verify one card with paypal they won't ask you to do it again. If you don't verify the card I think you're limited to zero. You can add more cards without having to go through the verification process. New 3V cards will be available for use immediately then.
and then charged by paypal to transfer the funds
Paypal don't charge anything to buyers, only to the recipient. You also can't transfer money into your paypal account from a credit card. You can make a payment to someone else and it's taken from your card. Pity really as if you had a few euros left on a 3V card that was about to expire you could just put the funds into your paypal account for later use.

Thats why I never bother using the service ,but i was never really sure about it.

Is there no service here in ireland that gets hard cash onto the web ,so it can be filtered to a specific holder??
Seems prejudice not to have such a service .
