Full Metal Panic and FMP:Fumoffu

Having watched the first 8 episodes of Full metal panic and watching the full season of FMP:Fumoffu, I have to say I surprisingly enjoyed Fumoffu more! Granted that they're two different genres theme-wise but I just preferred Fumoffu much more because of the level of comedy. Don't get me wrong now, FMP is really cool and I enjoy it alot, it might also be down to the fact that I watch Fumofuu before I watched FMP. Also as per usual I preferr the Japanese to the American dub.

    Does anyone else agree/disagree?

fumoffu is generally considered to be more of an 'aside' to the franchise. The Second Raid is the second series apparantly.
I thought Fumoffu really was just an opportunity to have fun with the characters..............:( I wish there was more. The insanity of the manga is simply not enough:D

Will I miss out on much if I see Fum begore FMP or Second Raid?

Yeah, you will miss out on a bit, like the whole point between Sousuke's and Kaname's relationship, and many characters are introduced in Fumoffu assuming that you are familiar with them from FMP! 1st series.

Surprisingly most people love fullmetal panic for Fumoffu...mostly for the ep Sousuke first wears the fumoffu customer in the amusement park! ^_^

I thought FMP season one was a mediocre anime and I couldn't stand Fumoffu after about five minutes.

TSR, however, I found more interesting. Only about half way through it now, but apparently it's improved upon the places where it failed in season one.

There were some great action scenes with the two sisters in TSR. Think best ep was when Kaname was getting all paranoid and took out one the sisters, was a very pretty ep.

Started reading the manga there recently (bought some a while back but hadn't gotten round to reading it) and the way its done is that the parts you could think of as fumuffo are interlaced with the first series. It actually comes accross better IMO

You should really retry with Fumoffu ... its just dead funny. The humour *is* uneven. But I guess the whole key to appreciating FMP! is that you have to get/enjoy the whole Sousuke x Kaname thing. If it does nothing for you, the rest falls flat. Its like watching Chobits, but hating Chii.

TSR was way more balanced, and an improvement in almost every respect (except length). To me, FMP! season 1 you can pretty much walk away from after the Colossus arc, and then just watch a few episodes towards the end. There is this massive block of filler in the middle and its all really mediocre stuff. Typical Gonzo crap - if you got 13 episodes of material, make a 3 month show, not a 26 ep one and try to fill in the blanks. 'The Wind blows at Home' arc? Pants. How can you make an unexciting action episode? All those unfunny comedy episodes? Gonzo what were you thinking? You can't do comedy?! (all right, I know about Vandread & Kaleidostar, but they were made back when Gonzo weren't trying to make 20+ productions a year).

Pretty much all of the Fumoffu material takes place between episode 7 of the anime series (where Sousuke is permanently assigned to bodyguard Kaname) and somewhere in the low 20-somethings when the series starts to conclude itself on the De Danaan. Thats the time line for the Fumoffu type material. Also some of the Fumoffu (anime) material is actually completely original, not in manga stuff, and is actually funny (the woman hunt).

Fumoffu and TSR are much better than the original.
