what a bunch of left wing hippy nerds the moderaters are here they are a joke. My guess is they all have beards and think there some sort of intellectuals arty farty types. they never allow any debate on immigration on here, of course what would you expect there most likely some socialist, communinst fools who cant believe there idelogly never spread around the world because it is flawed and of course just like the communist goverments the mods seem to ban or make fun of anyone who doesnt agree with them.
Of course i got this treatment i think it was hobbes who said i was a stormfront member just beacause i brought up immigration, by the way i am not a stromfront member.

I don't have a beard. It's rather difficult to be a "nerd" (see your comment above) and an "arty farty type" but I'm directing a play in Limerick in March so I'm doing my best.

Actually, they, or rather we, do. There's an existing thread in Feedback discussing that at the moment, point your oar towards that one if you like.

Again, difficult to be nerdy and a wannabe intellectual arty farty without realising the flaws in the initial theory of Marx, especially the permanent existence of the anthithesis as a reaction to the thesis. As far as I know, no-one who's ever met me has considered me a fool. Of course your insults are now just hitting final-stretch sprint mode.

I don't care if you're a stormfront member. Hobbes isn't a mod on politics either so I don't see the relevance of that to anything.

I'd love to see a coherent discussion on internal-EU migration, outra-EU immigration or asylum. I've seen the odd thread that approached coherency on the first and a staggering amount of twaddle on the second two. I'm still hoping. Your thread was locked because it had descended into the usual troll-fest from the usual people. The opener wasn't all that great either but at least it was given a chance at discussion that lasted until the troll-fest.

Now, you may think I'm a big fat meanie (incidentally I'm of average height and not fat in anyone else's eyes) for answering your points in such a blunt way but put squarely, anyone who chooses to open a whine-thread by insulting me (as part of the politics mod collective rather than the closer of the thread) with "what a bunch of left wing hippy nerds" before moving the insults upstream can suck an egg. At least you got an honest post from me rather than the whinge based on insult and imagined conjecture that you chose to throw at all moderators of the Politics forum. Enjoy your egg.

Why are you complaining about your thread being closed without actually linking to the thread? This looks more like a rant rather than feedback or an attempt to resolve some problem.

As for your immigration thread, it got closed because it descended into an unintelligable anti-immigration rant with lies and nonsense propaganda flying all over the place.

Even your initial post was rather ridiculous, you couldn't possibly know some of things you claimed in the post. And you were blaming immigration for an Irish construction company abusing a bankrupcy loop-hole, which is is ridiculous. Irish companies that do this often hire new Irish workers. It has nothing to do with immigration.

The politics forum is about serious debate on political subjects. There is a certain standard to a serious debate. I heard from some bloke down the pub... type posts are not going to be taken very seriously, especially over a topic like immigration.

If you have proper statistics or information about immigration, either negative or positive, by all means post that and it will be debated. But wild generalisations and hear-say have no place in a proper discussion on a topic such as this. Your personal opinions that things are getting worse (or better), or the reasons why this are happening (bloody immigrants!) carry very little weight because put simply you are stranger to everyone here. No one here knows that you are not a nut case, and as such have no reason to take your personal assessment on things seriously. This is known as the "taxi-driver effect" Put simply no one knows if you are talking bullsh1t or not. You need to back up what you say with proper evidence, otherwise it won't be taken seriously.

Immigration threads (or any other threads on politics) that offer nothing to debate except for hear-say and nonsense will be closed. That is normal.

People who start immigrant threads on boards.ie don't seem to realise that:

• Most users are aware that some Irish employers are replacing Irish staff with cheaper migrant labour and recognise that it can be a problem.
• Most users agree that the way the Irish government has managed migrants and asylum seekers is poor.
• Most users appreciate the frustrations that can be caused by a sudden and explosive increase in migrants and asylum seekers in the workforce, housing and society in Ireland.

Where the thread starters fall down, however, is in not understanding that most users, given the three factors listed above, don't then naturally progress to blaming all migrants for stealing our jobs, raping our women and ruining our society.

It's true, many boards users are sufficiently open minded that they don't blame all migrants for the teething problems Ireland is experiencing. Many users are even of the opinion that - and I know this is off the wall - but not all migrants are the same! Really! Honestly! They're not all shonky scamsters out to exploit Irish society!

Some users are even intelligent enough to regard the rumours of expansive socialistion payouts, multiple social welfare claims and migrants getting hundreds and hundreds of euros for having children, with scepticism.

Finally, the users who appreciate the problems, admit there are issues and try to educate themselves about the entire situation often look for alternative solutions to cutting eyeholes out of a pillowcase and shouting "fuck off back where you came from" at non-caucasian people in the street.

Ireland is a very parochial society. There are lots of people who have never left the country, even for a sun holiday. Many of them regard foreigners with deep suspicion and blame it on colonisation. But if you start a migrant thread on boards.ie, you need to understand something.

If you think boards.ie tramples your 'right to free speech', you do not want to see something similar to the 1970 Northern Irish Incitement to Hatred law passed in the Irish Republic because people like you don't understand how to solve recognised issues in a competent, civilised and tolerant manner.
