    well,

one more problem - hopefully last !

after i built my pc, i noticed the motherboard came with a crap media player called "realtek", and being someone who removes programs i do not need, i deleted it.

unbeknown to me, that this software also held the audio driver for the onboard card on the mother board, and now i have no sound !

i downloaded the audio driver of the gigabyte website, definitely entered in right model, ga-8vm800m, ran the driver install, at least three times rebooted pc each time as well - and it still is not picking up the new driver.

    so any ideas ?

anyone else encounter this ? or i am just cursed ?!!!

Is the sound card device still showing up under Device Manager in the System applet in Control Panel? If so, then remove it and then restart.

Uninstall the drivers you are currently using and try the latest ones from realteks own website.

Select AC"97 Audio Codecs & download the executable file A3.96

See if it works after that.
