Anyone have any experience with any of the following companies windows:

    -www.germanqi.com agents for Niveau window
-Carinthia Woodworks (Galway) agents for Gaulhofer windows
    -sorpetaler based in killarney
    - Any other good quality window\door suppliers ( I am awaiting a quote from Marvin Architectural but I'm concerned that they put more emphasis on style and marketing than insulation and security. Nothing to base this on just yet though. They have been very professional to deal with so far.

Looking at the usual options e.g argon filled, low e, insulated frame, triple glazing option ...

There's another American window very similar to Marvin called Andersen might also be worth a look. There's a company in Wexford (ecobuild I think) that does them.

You cannot beat Munster Joinery for price and service, Speaking from experience.

I've seen a few houses in south Dublin being extended and renovated and they are putting in wooden windows by CARLSON.

Anyone know what they are like performance wise ?

Try Wright Window Systems in Milltownpass, as well as producing their own, they also source high performance windows from Poland.

Ask Sakigrant about his Sorpetaler windows and doors he had them fitted to his house, I was very very impressed with the fit and finish when I saw them.
Another guy I know got some Polish windows and doors, windows were fine but the doors all leaked some very badly.
I have Elitfonster windows in my place, triple glazed and single low-e coating.
Swedoor doors which are good and easy to fit, but I am not sure if you can get them here.
I haven't heard many good things about MJ windows apart from the fact that they are cheap...

    Great, will PM Sakigrant.

Same for me on MJ. First hand experience of their customer service in my current house and it wasn't good. Granted that was 5 years ago.

    All, thanks for the feedback.

We got wooden windows for our new build recently. We got them from a company called Produkt. They have a website .. think it is www.produkt.ie

All of the windows are custom made by a factory in Germany. Really nice windows and they are approximately the same price as Marvin. IMO Marvin are very flimsy and overpriced for what you get.

Good luck. The windows decision is one of the biggest - it can really make or break a house.

I do think Marvin are as much about marketing as quality. However, I'll wait until I get my quote before I decide that. I've come across that produkt company in reference to HRV systems. They supplied the one for the mosart passive house in wicklow. Wasn't aware they did windows. I'll contact them.

How were they on customer service\delivery times out of curiousity?

Very good. I live in Kildare and they promised that they would deliver and install the windows in 5 weeks - which they were. They were very careful to get all the sizes etc correct and measured the opes many times - personally thought that it was a bit excessive - but better safe than sorry.

Did you have to build the openings to their list of standard sizes (like marvin) or do they make the windows to tie in with your design.

I'm in portlaoise, where in kildare are you?

    Just outside the town.

They build all of their windows to exactly what size you want. They don't have standard sizes. This is a fantastic advantage if you are on a self build. Unless you have a fantastic blocklayer - most window opes will be somewhat different (couple mm here and there). As these windows are build for the exact size then the windows will fit in very snugly.

I've come across 1 problem with the windows from Produkt and that is the warranty.

5 years is a tad short. Still, not a show stopper yet...
