Hypothetically ;) if when looking for accomodation, a student based a portion of his/her decision on the advertised "Unlimited use of broadband", and upon entering contract discovered that it was deliberately firewalled from executing user-desired programs (eg. PartyPoker, Video Games, Online-Storage Drives, etc.), would that be an Offence under Section 6 of the Consumer Information Act 1978?

I'd like some advice on this pretty soon.... she has an office on-site and I'm torn wether to send her the e-mail or march down there  ... it's been an ongoing problem but I finally snapped again when less than 24 hours after installing and running PartyPoker, she has it blocked already.

The legal entitlement to using these sites i'm not sure of, but on the technical sideI know that if too many people hog the bandwidth by accessing some sites e.g. gmail, that the system hangs, you will find that nobody else gets satisfactory use of their access either. The administrator is probably just ensuring that everyone has fair access. This has happened in a v large company where I work, they haven't banned any sites but jsut ask people to be considerate about it.

doubt you would have a case. was unlimited use referring to the lenght og time you are allowed to use it? as in you could be on for 24 hours as opposed to 6 hours per day?

unlimited was never defined in any additional manner besides a 4 euro weekly charge.

I'd have assumed that there would be clause in the contract about acceptable usage of the system. Its not unusual or unreasonable to block badly designed applications like games and file sharing that consume all the bandwidth on a system. Is there any such thing as unlimited BB in reality? Are they not all subject to terms and conditions?
