Hi Everyone, has anyone any thoughts on where My Way De Solzen will in run in Cheltenham?
He has 3 choices, the Arkle, The Ryanair chase, and the SunAlliance chase over 2miles, 2m5furlongs and 3m1f respectively.
He was originally to be aimed at the Arkle, however being beaten by Fair along seems to have put them off it, My own analysis of this race says to me:
Beaten 10 lengths, giving away 9 pounds. If they were on level weights, MWDS looks like the winner. In the Arkle, Fair along will still be getting 5 pounds (age allowance), but this little drop puts MWDS back in the reckoning. He will run in this race if the ground is soft to heavy on race day (normally unlikely, but with course watering expected it could happen).
The next is the Ryanair. I thought this was the race for him, but it looks like Kauto Star has frightened off Racing Demon, Exoctic damcer and Monets Garden. Looks a little hot for De Solzen.
Next is the Sunalliance. The competition here is Denman. King has said he wouldn't aim MWDS down this route, but seems to have backtracke din recent days.
    Any thoughts?

I can't see him running in the RSA as its a bit of a slog for a novice. If he runs over fences at the festivakl it'll be in the arkle IMO.

Was he entered in the stayers, if the ground was riding on the fast side it wouldn't surprise me to see him run there.

If it comes up quick(ish) I'd say the Arkle 1st choice and Ryanair 2nd as I'd say they'd dodge RSA for the stated reason and the WH because of Black Jack K.

I think he'll end up in the Sunalliance. While it has got a bit of a reputation for bottoming a young chaser it looks the most sensible option to me.

They'd be mad to run him in the Ryanair against experienced horses imo.

The Arkle trip is way too short for a World Hurdle winner and he will be run off his feet a la War Of Attrition 2 years ago and Missed That and Racing Demon last year.

King has said they will run in the Arkle only if there is a bit of cut in the ground.
I asked the original question, because I think he has a victory in him, its just picking the race is the question.

I'd an ante post bet for him for the Sun Alliance, I don't really see it being a slog for a world hurdle winner who proven on bottomless ground. I thought the Sun Alliance was there for the taking for him, however I was reading King saying a few weeks back that he will definitely not be going for it and it would be the Arkle or the Ryanair.

Personally I think it's madness running a proven 3 miler over hurdles in a 2 mile chase, as has already been shown by Fair Along he'll be caught out for a bit of pace.

I think connections are hoping with the turn around in weights with Fair Along coupled with going left handed around a course he acts on that they could turn it around.

If it was my horse it would be a straight choice between the RSA & the WH depending on the ground.
