Low cost? give them maps at least!

Seem as the airline in question, Eirjet, is now out of business, it seems a bit late to give them anything..

I used to have a PPL ( Private Pilots Licence ) , and I would not ever set out to go to an airport without a real map in front of me.

Now I bet A320's have all sorts of gizmos and suchlike but I would have thought they should have a real map of their destination in front of them

Have a look at google earth around this area , the two airports are very close and on the same alignment ( the same prevailing winds of course ) .

This happened about 40 years ago at Heathrow a TWA 707 landed at RAF Northolt about 4 miles to the north. In those days they used to use gasometers as a visual aid , and the TWA captain used the wrong gasometer.

Are there any CPL ( Commercial Pilots ) out there that would care to comment ? ( obviously anon :) )

Oh, I know, but Aldergrove had an incorrect landing also at one stage.
