Has anyone here recently booked a flight with Virgin Atlantic? I flew with them a few years ago and there was no problems, but today I was looking to book a flight with them but until I found out that you need to have a billing address in the country of departure, i.e. UK in this case.

I have sen off an email to them, no response yet, but wanted to know if any of the denizens of these here parts have managed to get around this in some way.

    Cheers.

just asked my sister who's a travel agent. Apparently it's only if you use their website, to cut down on fraud. You can book in a travel agent (I can recommend a good one ;) ) or online through the likes of ebookers as suggested. I flew with them last year, can't praise them enough.

Or call their reservations line. They can do the booking over the phone, even with an non-UK address

ebookers etc are all dearer than their web price...

Yep, I looked at flights on the virgin site and the ebookers site. The price for premium economy on the virgin site was cheaper than economy on the ebookers flight (also with virgin?). Also, the ebookers flight had two stops?!

    Virgin:
London > Vegas €1,250 premium economy

    Ebookers "Virgin":
London > San Francisco > Vegas €1,300 normal economy

(these are return flights as well so tiz €1,250 for the whole trip)

Yup. Often the case. However Virgin's reservations team are normally quite good and if you explain why you can't book it online, they'll try and get you the web price over the phone

Cheers for the replies all. I got no reply from the email I sent them. I am probably going to wait a couple of days before booking as I am looking at some other options, but if I ring them I will let ye know how easy or otherwise it was. Worst case scenatio, I'll give my brother that lives in London a shout.

    Hi 5starpool,

I would suggest you give Virgins UK reservations a buzz. I fly with them every year to the US and I have gotten some great deals on the phone. Just get chatting to them and they will look around for any offers/sales that might not be published yet.

I saved almost a 1000 euro on 2 Premium Econ flights to Vegas in 2005 by calling them directly.

ebookers are thieving bastards. I'd like to hear from anyone who travels regularly who's got a cheaper price from them than you can find yourself.

Talk to Virgin Atlantic on the phone. They're excellent to deal with.

clubtravel.ie seem reasonably competitive - and you can book a Virgin ticket with them.. but afaik if you're booking through an agent (even a web agent) you're probably looking at about €50 over the actual price.. that'd be how they make their money..

I tend to check out the agent sites and find the best option and then book directly through the airline.. heard great things about Virgin and I'm looking forward to the day that they come up as my best choice option..

I have flown with VS on three return flights to SFO. I booked the first two through e-bookers and got very good deals. I booked the latest one directly with Virgin as I was using points to get a reduction on the price, only booked 5 days in advance.

I'm flying to JFK with them next week and I booked over the net as I was using points to book the flight so only had to pay "taxes and charges" (points sale, 2 return flights in economy to SFO = 1 free return flight in economy to JFK)
