the one i have now is just the normal windows compressed folder utility.

yesterday i used winzip i think, but something went wrong.

no hope of recuperating these zipped files, i guess?

That's fairly crap at the best of times. If the zip file has become corrupt then WinRAR can fix it. If you downloaded it then maybe it's not a zip file at all. TrID can help identify it.

Here is a link to a free compression/archival utility that I use all the time.

It's possible that the files are named ".zip" but are not, in fact, zip files. It's also possible that they've been corrupted in some way.

Either way, download the utility and see if it works for you.

    Regards,

    Liam

I don't use win rar, prefer to rely on windows stuff due to recent scares with system... long story in another thread! ;-)

it's ok, i had to start the job over again, but will look into what went wrong...

try the latest winzip trail version to see if it's yet another new tweak of the format or pkware too

then recompress the expanded file with 7zip to see it's way smaller then the propietry new zip format, then flame the person who sent you the file

it could also be corrupt, especially if downloaded
