It looks interesting alright, I just wish they had included the response time information, and no matter how much googling I do I just don't seem able to uncover that information!

wtf....any idiot who has considered buying a flat screen will consider the contrast ratio, and without having looked into any other of the product details, this is an obvious shortcoming associated with this deal...

Salaco: I'm willing to learn ;) . What should one look for in contrast ratios and what does it actually mean? Thanks

Contrast ratio values are based on maximum brightness, and is unusable for most of the time when it is at its maximum. There is no point in comparing TV' contrast ratios. A screen that registers 1600: 1 will not necessarily be any better than one that is "half as strongly contrasted" at only 800: 1. The first screen will probably be brighter, which is only an advantage if the screen is to be installed in a public place where it needs to be extremely bright so as to be visible to everyone, and from a distance.

'Any Idiot' would go and physically look at the screen on a HD source before making any conclusion

Blah blah, thanks for the unnecessary explanation. My comments were based upon a moment's glance of a 6-7 line specs sheet. As such, I and the rest of the unwashed browsing the forum are unlikely to have seen the screen on a HD source, and while your "not necessarily" comments are true, I was making a generalisation on the basis of my experience of checking out cheap flat screens, nothing more. Either way, you've made your point; now either get laid or pull that stick out of your ass.

Just to add to this thread. If anybody is going to the North, Asda have a 32" LCD HD ready for £400. I will get the brand and any details I can later.

Nah, I stand by my original generalisation. I don't see the value in telling the original poster that it looks like an absolutely amazing deal and a great telly, subject to me seeing it in person with a HD source, whereupon it may turn our to be rather crap

Not a bad deal at all, they certainly have come down in price very fast in recent months thanks to good competition

The price is now reduced to 576 :D
