Looking to get one of these for my laptop, basically i have two laptops and instead of buying a new TV for spare room might as well utilise a laptop instead, the thing is i dont know much about them ( apart from the government wanting to crack down on them but doesnt bother me).
What are the government cracking down on?
Do they really offer loads and loads of extra channels, will i be able to pick up the local stations RTE,RTE2,TV3 etc?
No, you won't get RTE or anything like that with this. You will get lots of channels from Eastern Europe and other countries, most of which you probably wouldn't watch.
are they complex to use? and is there a computer program i can download for free anywhere rather than purchasing?
if not is the one below any good?

This is just a computer program that streams free TV over the Internet so unless you have broadband at home don't consider it.

There are computer programs to view free satellite TV stations on your PC but you need a dish pointed to the relevant satellite for them to work. The Satellite forum is a better place to ask about these options.
