    Hi

Can anyone tell me if NewsTalk rely heavily on prerecorded items??

This morning at the 7 o'clock news an article on Bushs new stategy was interuppted by what sounded like the recording being fast forwarded (excuse the grammar), it also happened on the same item in the 8 o'clock news though not to the same extent..

Also a few weeks a go the same thing happened on the G Hook show during an interview.....I realise that sometimes they prerecored interviews etc but this wasn't the case on this occasion...

    Just wonderin y'know........

Certain sections could be, I've heard 'live' news on RTE go SNAFU, I wonder sometimes if its the digital technology - the sound gets 'caught' and mangled if a glitch occures.

Was listening to Talksport one morning early and they played the sports news of 24 hours ago.

lots of live shows rely on prerecorded items, there's nothing wrong with that as long as the show's presenters are actually in studio linking the interviews live. for various reasons you might have to record someone an hour before you go on air.

Pat Kenny's show does it all the time as do other RTE shows. However, I find it's better to tell the listener beforehand that the interview is recorded. That way you build up trust and if something goes wrong you've got an excuse.

East Coast FM are worse. Overnight, weekend and bank holidays their news comes direct from INN. Obviously they leave the link going straight to air all day, because last Paddy's day there was a beeping noise every 5 seconds with no live links etc, and the only time there were no beeps was during the news.

There are also a LOT of awkward silences at the end of INN sport most days before East Coast comes back, as if there's no one in studio while the news is on.
