The Heineken Music Hall is outside of the city, I don't think there are any hotels nearby and it's not an area you'd want to stay in anyway, no nightlife and not all that safe.

You should stay in the centre and take the metro the the Music Hall, 15 mins or so from Central Station

This isa good site: http://www.bookings.at. You will get basically mountains of hotels and reviews by people who have stayed there, with a description of whether they were e.g., backpackers, young couple, etc., of most of the places in basically everywhere.

They have very very *very* good discounts with hotels in my experience. I just had a quick look and they have four stars in Amsterdam from around €75-100/night for double rooms. I think they do some block purchasing thing which the hotels then use to fill up capacity using the cheaper rates. The Hilton was €205 per night for a deluxe double which is actually a good deal!

Hey there, I used to live in the Jordaan and am back in Amsterdam once a month for work. I always stay in the Hotel Van Onna. It's on Bloemgraght which is off one of the main canels Prinsengracht. 45 pppn, very clean and safe hotel in a lovely area. Basic, no tv. Just bed linen and clean towels, you need your own toileteries. It's a gem of a place though.
