Free Analogue TV? courtesy of NTL?

    Hey guys,

I'm currently paying for NTL digital on One main TV and then paying for 3 extra points around the house using Analogue or Cable TV (you know the type where u get 15 channels and its sometimes fuzzy - old school).

Anyway, I want SKY digital, but the cost of getting it in 4 rooms is very high.

So, I was wondering, what happens when I ring up NTL to get disconnected from their service. I've heard rumours that all they do is pull out the plug and take back digital boxes etc.. Surely all you would have to do it plug it back in and receive the channels for free? leaving me free to get Sky digital on the main TV again.

    Any help?

Afaik, they unplug a cable outside your house/appartment/flat. Usually this cable runs parallel to the house, and it plugs into a junction type box, and I think thats what is unplugged. We had free Tv for years thanks to cablelink as it was at the time, then Ntl got wide. :o

I know some people who got NTL for free for about 2 and a half years due to this. The previous tennants in the flat had NTL disconnected but when the guys came in they just plugged it in and NTL were none the wiser for years.

On an NTL related issue. If I decide to disconnect from NTL then reconnect under a different name (ie. flatmates) to avail of the E9.99 a month for TV and Broadband offer how long will I be without NTL TV and Broadband? Also should I leave it for a few weeks in case they cop on to it?

They disconnect a cable which is typically on the outside of your home. The cable cannot be disconnected or reconnected without a particular tool which NTL engineers have. It can probably be tampered with if you have a decent selection of tools, and they wouldn't be able to tell, but it would be illegal because all of the cabling is property of NTL.
