If the foxes in your area are used to being lamped you will need a more powerfull rifle, we used to use a .22 when we started but found out quickly we were limited. We use a swift now. Far more comfortable shooting with it, very few foxes get away if any and you are 99% sure of a kill.

yeah something more powerful would be better maybe a hornet. and with a .22lr better off hitting them in the neck

If you must use your .22lr, use HV hollow points like CCI Stingers or, better still, Velocitors.

Subs would be the worst possible choice IMO.

Best of all, as already mentioned, is a bigger gun - .223 etc.

ya second on the stingers or voliciters

do you by chance have a semi??
try two quick shots to the neck head
a shot anywhere in a vital region will kill them just not humanly and instantly

I have taken foxes with a .22lr in certain situations using winchester subs and parker hale moderator.
Took 36 last August using this method, stick to below 60yds and into the brain.

Change up to .22 Magnum, it's is a good choice not overly expensive on rounds and not as much of a whack if you've got houses about. It's important you stay within 100/130 yards. Take your time calling them in, go for head or chest.

I was out last night and got four of them.
