javascript in a textarea

I have a page with a link on it that uses javascrip to open a popup. It works fine. On the same page, I'm showing some javascript in a textarea. This displays fine. However, when I have both on screen, the popup js no longer works, giving me an error:
Object doesn't support this property or method.

I've tried using < instead of < etc, but the js in the textarea appears to be interfering with the js in the popup link.

Oops, never mind. I'd accidentally duplicated the element name. My fault. :o
