ebay clothing items query

I am a relative novice when it comes to ebay shopping. I have bought 4 clothing items in the past 6 months and every single article has been a very poor imitation.
Just today I received a pair of Hugo Boss trousers. I emailed he seller and asked him if the item was genuine and he responded that it was 100% original. The trousers I received were a very poor imittion. I emailed the seller and told him that he sold me **ite and he responed that I could send them back the purchase and he would refund me. The point is that the P&P was around 12GBP. Anyway, a few questions:
    1) Is there any way i can know that a seller is selling fake (the feedback of sellers is often unreiable as often people do not know what they are buying).
    2) If a seller emailes me that his product is genuine and it turns out that on receipt it was not, is it worth getting eBay involved to refund the postage cost.
    3) Any hints on buying original merchandise on eBay?

Its pretty hit and miss with fakes on ebay, some are easy to spot, some are not, have been stung once on it with a jacket buy now am a bit wiser and know what to look for.
If the product is rediculously cheaper than the original, its too good to be true...however this is not always the case even having looked at the page you linked to in your original post,it would be hard to quess those pants were knockoffs.
You could report him to ebay but I doubt there would be a swift resolution but it could be worth a try.
Its not worth paying £12 to get back £29,I'd say take it on the chin, move on and just try to be more wary of any sellers especially if there registered in the UK/Europe but the goods are comming from China etc as they 9 times out of 10 are ripoff's.

Eh? You get back £17 which is better than getting back nothing assuming the OP is not going to keep the clothing.

However, I would not trust a return to a seller who passes of fake goods as genuine.

I stand by my statement,if I was burned I sure as hell wouldn't be paying more money in the vain attempt that the seller *might* remburse me the original amount.
Why not just file a paypal claim for the funds, lodge a complaint with ebay for selling fake merchandise, leave him bad feedback... and move on?!

I contacted the seller in the UK and she/he agreed to give me a refund! Will send the fake Hugo Boss trousers back on Monday and as soon as I getv the money into my account, will leave a negative feedback and inform ebay and Paypal on misleading info from a seller!
The lesson learned by me: Never again buy clothes from eBay!

A few years ago it used to be really good to get clothes but now it is totally flooded with fakes, I wouldn't even bother. If you do don't buy from eastern Europe or Asia as they will be fakes. There can be some good US sellers, but with all the crap from Asia it can be very hard to find them in a search.
