Will a PVR disk drive be OK in a PC?

I have a 160GB Seagate 7200rpm ATA drive left over from upgrading my Sky Plus box. Part number ST3160212ACE
This is quote "Designed specifically for integration into DVRs, the DB35 Series 7200.2 drive is optimized to deliver smooth video playback and recording" endquote.
My question is should I slap this drive into my PC and if I do will it work OK as a normal PC disk drive? Any help appreciated. ;)

Yep, don't see why not. Assuming your PC has IDE controllers for HD and not SATA.

Tis just a hard drive nothing special about it will work in sky box/pc without issue. :) Good luck.

It should be fine though keep in mind they may have (or may not) have tweaked the firmware of the HD for certain types of disk access that are the most common in DVR setups, so performance may not be optimal in a regular desktop environment.

Though it is hard to measure those kinds of things as I have only seen a very small selection of benchmarks but there was demand in the HTPC communitys for such HD's as Maxtor was doing this to one or two of their models.
