    Intro:

Double Chance Jackpot where early birds get an additional 500 chips. As the game is starting I give a holla to Duke that I havnt received my 500 early bird, he drops it to me as play begins. There is then a quick debate about whether or not I have too many chips - I say it appears I have too many and give back the 500. After hand 1 the dealer if washing and riffleing when DITPOKER points out that I am actually short 500 in chips - DOH!! Before cards are dealt in hand 2 I tell Duke I was wrong and he owes me 500 - he acknowledges it and says he is on his way with it.

Here is my Question - is this 500 chip in play for hand 2?

Why do I ask? Well I got all my chips across the line on the river but Duke was only arriving with the chip at that point - player was left with 500 behind as a result instead of 0.

This is obviously not a straightforward question so I am just looking for opinions.

You didn't have the chips on the table at the start of the hand so the 500 are not in play. imo. You get that 500 at the start of hand 3.

Chips are in play as it was acknowledged that you did not have the correct number of chips due to you. The table and dealer knew at the start of the hand that the chips were due to you. If you discovered this part way through the hand then they would not be in play.

In future, tell the dealer that you are playing behind and he should acknowledge this.

i thought the ruling was a bit strange given that you had been there before the tournament had started and everyone at the table knew you were meant to have the 500 bonus chip. I also think that if the hand hand been against alot of opponents they'd have just accepted that you had the 500 and given you the extra chip, i was surprised at how the opponent in the hand got a bit stroppy and refusing to hand over the 500, that said you did hit runner runner! :p

    Please describe the hand?

The other player was being a di*k, clearly knew you were there on time 500 chip should be in the pot.

not 100% sure how it went but when the dust settled it was BigCityBanker holding 66 on a board of Q47,3,5 ... villain didnt show, i assume he had a queen. not sure how the betting went.

The TD acknowledged that you were "behind" 500 before the start of hand 2 right? ... that chip is in play and should be considered to be in your stack. This IS a straightforward questions imho, there are soooo many reasons why you simply cant have any confusion about this.... its an angle grinders dream.

I would think that if the hands/players were reversed that I would not be left with 500 having gone all in and been called.
