    Hi all,

Just got my ntl bill and they have changed a few items.

    Cable Digital TV

Basic Cable Connection is €21.49 per month - (used to be €19.99)
Go Digital Select pack €4.50 extra per month - (used to be €5)
Go Digital Max pack €9.50 extra per month - (used to be €10)

Digital Multi-room Viewing €7.50 extra per month
Digital Sports pack €25.00 extra per month
Digital Movies pack €26.00 extra per month
Digital Sports & Movies pack €35.99 extra per month

They are also charging a couple of euros ( dont have the figure to hand )extra if you don't pay by Direct Debit - a bit cheeky if you ask me.

    Just thought i'd share.

got my upc direct bill today!!!!! gone from €79 to €126 for broadband and 2 basic digital boxes? Thats some jump, surely this cannot be correct?

Totally agree on the €2 non-direct debit fee, though I called the CAI yesterday who unfortunately said that they had spoken to the Dept of Communication and Comreg who both confirmed its completely legal (apparantly I was about the 50th caller that day!!!)

Tried to call NTL yesterday and got re-routed to their over-flow call centre in Belfast where they spend more time telling you that they're not actually NTL than trying to help you - absolutely worse than useless.

When I asked for an explanation of the fee I was given random reasons like "well lots of other big companies charge it" and "its cheaper to pay direct debit" (!!!!!) Eventually spoke to a supervisor who said its for "administration and paperwork etc" for people paying in Post Offices etc. As I pay online with Banking 365 I understand (?) that I am manually doing the same as a direct debit i.e. transferring from one account to another and therefore I struggle to see what administration is required.

I fully intend to escalate my concerns with NTL and have absolutely no intention of paying them an extra €2 for nothing.

I'd be interested to know if theyve had much of a backlash about this as I'm sure theyd think twice if enough people complained.

Ive just seen why my bill has jumped up, not getting free basic tv now with broadband.

just heard about this €2 DD charge. Not happy with that at all.
Also my NTL bill jumped from €90 to €106 every 2 months this month.
Might change over to sky digital over this

My bill came in two days ago and i didn't even look at it, until now. I am paying dd so no worries about the charge but to my suprise i have just seen the amount to whicjh the bill comes to.......€111.96!!!! I am meant to be on the tv and broadband offer of €35 per month. Surely the changes in charges cannot affect it this month by that much, can it?
I will defo be ringing them tomorrow but judging by the last time i tried to ring them I won't even get through. My internet connection went down a while back and i tried to ring cs but couldn't get through and it wasn't for the lack of trying, at least 20 min of being on hold and giving up 5 times!!
I should really check out the last bill i got too?

Does anybody know if the €35 is mwant to include vat or not?

The €2 charge per bill for not opting to pay by DD should be criminalized:mad: I pay by internet banking aswell so why should I have to pay it?

i was on hold for ages so went onto the sales option. I rang 3 times and spoke to people they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the way I was billed and that it was correct. I stated that for the last 14months (Since september 2005) i was paying 79euro why had it shot up to 127euro. They said it hadn't and that what i was paying all the time? So when my bill came i wasn't seeing 79 euro on it and there wasn't 79 euro taken out of my bank account???

Seems to be more and more people having problems with NTL. At this stage I've had enough and have already decided when my broadband and digital subscription is up in March I'm going elsewhere. Reckon I've spent between 10 -12 hours in the last month on hold trying to sort out my problems with the broadband.
The final straw came when i went to order a pay per view match before Christmas that they had been advertising for 11 euro and was told that I had to pay 18 euro as there was a second PPV game later on that day and they came as a package, even though I knew I wouldn't get to see the second game even if I wanted too.

I feel I have no choice now but to change from NTL. It keeps on cutting out, I have phoned to complain many times and the last time I was told that if I was not happy with the service then they recommend changing to another provider!!!! I couldnt believe it, I actually wasn't even being horrible to the chap on the phone!
I decided on NTL at the start as there was a shorter wait for installation and the package I wanted was a tenner cheaper then SKY, with the new ridico prices, I'm going with SKY. Especially the 2 quid charge for not using DD...
Also does everyone get there bill on time? My last few bills seem to have taken 10 days from the date on them to get to me, if that continues I could be charged a late fee now...

Same with me - free tv for first year is now being charged for, effectively doubling my bill. I complained about this on 10th Jan - Told to wait 48 hrs, waited 3 days, rung again, (wait over 40 mins, hang up, try 321 number, 20 mins later told to wait a week!!! Told I cant talk to billing dept! So how can I do business with them? They are overcharging me and have DD on my account and wont call me back as promised? Tried Email on Thursday 26th and no reply yet - Think its time to pull the plug. Maybe try Metro instead.

Cancel with them , I did and delighted with Sky.

I've reached the end with NTL too - have ordered sky for february - last straw was talking to a completely disinterested 'customer service' rep about a fault - they could get someone out in three weeks! and then sending a complaint about this 'service' and am still waiting on a reply two weeks later. These new charges are just the icing on the cake - they cn say goodbye to a ten-year customer.

What I take from that is :

We're investing in our network, therefore we'll be screwing older customers with no bank accounts because we don't want those kinds of non-trendy customers anyway.

And here's a big two fingers to the National Consumer Agency!

Laughing all the way into your bank account, UPC!

This "news" is more than 12 months old. Why bring it up again?

Was on to ntl last night to move up the select package to the max package which was done quick smart, the ntl dude then tells me that if i want to move down from max in the future it will cost €10!!!

Told the guy if it wasnt on my contract i wont be paying for them to STOP giving me some channells. Told him i wanted to speak to somebody about cancelling with immediate effect as i would not be held to ransom by illegal charges.

Have wrote in to the consumer pages of a number of different papers about this to see if the charges are even legitimate. Long story short i have cancelled and am waiting for sky to install next week.

NTL can go swivel they offer an inferior service with non existant customer service and numerous stealth charges.
