your Wii Pet Peeves

Well, im sure we all have them and Im just wondering what are your small Wii pet peeves. I know I have a few, but most of those can be fixed in firmware updates.

Blue light .... I wish I could control this and have it on 24/7 on a dimmed setting and then flash when there is a message. It just seems a useless waste at the moment, sitting there doing nothing.

Address Book Another thing im sure they can tinker with. The fact that you have to register an email with someone to send them mails annoys me ... I just end up grabbing my laptop instead of using my Wii. And also adding people could be made a lot easier, id like to have a note on my Wii to tell me if someone has registered me, saves me having to (attempt to) memorise numbers to add and then telling people ive added them and ask them to add me too. But also, you cant edit someone's contact Mii after you have added them :(

All those controllers So, I buy a wiimote, but thats not enough, i gotta go out and buy a nunchuck too. Thats, what ... nearly 70 euro or so? And add in Classic controllers when more multiplayer n64 etc. games come out. Its gonna be a lot of money in the end to get all the bits ya need.... although, from Nintendy's point of view its profit++ for them :)

All for now ... before i start woffling [more]

Tyring to sink short putts in Wii golf.

The remote doesn't seem to be sensitive enough to register the small movement needed for a 1 or 2 foot putt so I end up taking my 2nd putt from 6 or 8 feet away.

    Not actually owning one :(:(

Possibly the worst Wii pet peeve you can have.

I found that the trick is to start with the remote pointed straight down and just move left from there.

I agree with the problems of adding people, I think it should be just like IM programs, if you add someone they should receive a request and decide if they want to add you and allow messages etc.

I also think the Blue light should be used a bit more.
It should At least be on Dim when playing a game and then flash brightly if you get a message.

Too little internal memory is also quite annoying.

Internet channel is too far away at default Zoom and too close when zoomed in the one and only possible amount of times.

Media should have it's own channel and not be so damn awkward to play.

And there should be a bit more detail and work involved in making a Mii.

And not to be petty or anything.....but more games please!!!!!!!!

Nobody seems to have mentioned batteries for the Wiimote?!

I know Nintendo are trying to keep the cost down for the consumer (and thus make it more attractive = more sales = greater profit), but I would gladly have paid an extra 20 or 30 quid to have the console come with a rechargeable battery pack and a USB cable (and the necessary hardware within the Wiimote) to recharge the Wiimote by attaching 'said' USB cable to the controllers.

Apart from convenience and cost savings, it would also have been environmentally sound (and yes, I am using a seperate charger and rechargeables).

But maye they'll offer this in future designs of the Wiimote.

i think the complete lack of unlockables in the sports game is annoying. you play the game for hours and the oponents get tougher for a while then they top out. what if there were some mini games to unlock when you get pro in all games. or tournaments.

and why have the console with such great wifi access and so easy to set up and always on when there are no online multiplayer games? does anyone not think it would be great to be playing tennis with 3 other people from all over the world?

Yeah i thought the same myself.

Found this on another site though

    http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/19/rechargeable-wii-remote-batteries-and-dock-in-2007/

Seems that its 3rd party at the moment, sure nintendo won't want to miss the boat there.

I ended up buying a rechargeable set in argos for €20. 4 batterys and caharger. Can't go wrong there although I do agree it should have been included. The batteries seem to run out pretty quick too, at least compared to the 360 although perhaps I'm playing the wii too much :)

I'd love the nunchuck to be wireless (but that's just me nit picking)
The blue light looks cool but isn't used much. I'm sure they'll do something with it eventually. Althoug I was woken up the other night with it. It was pulsing like mad. The wii light was orange (usually red when it's powered off). I'm not too sure what was going on.
A media centre channel would be nice also.

I agree with all of the peeves mentioned already, especially as regards adding friends and having to keep buying batteries for the wiimotes. Another thing that annoys me is that you can't make miis of your pets! Lol. Everyone in my family has a mii and we want to add our beloved cats so they can go prowl around my brother's wii in Scotland. Maybe Nintendo will add this later on. I think it would be fun (yes, I'm sad). :)

A bit petty, but I'd love to see more features and accessories added to the Mii Channel. Some extra hats and glasses, some more facial hair formations, some more hairstyles....

It doesnt play DVDs, i thought that was a strange one. Still using the noisy PS2 for that purpose.

On the subject of batteries: saw these online and think they're the perfect solution for the Wii, 360, PC equipment etc...

Hmmm.... I dont really use the Mii's function cos it is annoying to register friends, but that would probably be my only peeve.
Some botches with the browser... But hey its a beta.

pretty nifty batteries but ordinary rechargeable batteries wll do the trick just as good (unless all your plug sockets at home have been converted to usb :))

That's pretty cool alright. The only peeve I'd really have so far is probably the aforementioned slight difficulty with registering of Mii friends/E-mail friends.

It's internet connection speed when connecting for an update or to the Virtual Console Shop is pretty poor...

XBL has it right with a gamertag, easy to set up, you can see what your friends are doing and easily "connect" with them.

Nintendo need to get over these stupid friend codes. I know they think they're helping kids and being secure but it's just annoying. And I really don't want friend codes for individual games, that's just crazy-talk.

Same as TmB I want more options in the Mii channel.

spot on, exactly what i want.

xbox live really is very good compared to its competitors at the momnet

If they want to make it secure for kids then turn on the parental controls, when these are on, no new friend requests can be accepted. To access parental controls a push button code has to be entered

Couldn't agree more. The way XBL is setup is fantastic. Easy to add your friends and also notifications when they come online. I would love to know if any of my friends are online and playing with their Wii .... moreso when proper multiplayer games come out. Maybe the addition of some sort of simple IM client also, as I have noticed that messages from Wii to Wii arnt as instant as I would like them to be.

I would love to have a Wii profile, similar to that of what XBL users get. I think Microsoft really did hit the nail on the head when they set that up. Did a fantastic job with it. I havnt used the Playstation Network yet so cant really comment on that, however their system of "Master Accounts" for 'parents' as such and "Regular Accounts" for kids is a good system of keeping the unmentionables away from the tiddileys.

With the batteries it is annoying indeed. I would like to see Nintendo being out their own rechargable bettery packs (Similar to what the Xbox 360 offers). If not I can see myself possibly getting a 3rd party battery pack system or just grabbing batteries and recharger from Argos or somewhere.

Another little annoyance is its connectivity. The photo channel is near useless for anybody. Out of the several digital cameras, phones, mp3 players and my psp none of them use the SD Cards. All of them either use XD cards or Memory Stick Duo's. If I could plug in a card reader adaptor, or even just a USB memory stick I would be happier. Id love to see the Wii have the ability to pick up images and music from a usb port and play them.

And please, please, please Nintendo. Let the Wii play music, xvid/divx videos and such from wifi. I would love to be able to watch some of the videos I have on my server or listen to some of the days worth of music on my Wii. Its the reason a lot of people bought Xbox's (Modchip them into media centres)

Apparently there's some sort of trick where you can keep the blue light on, i haven't tried it so apologies if it dosent work.

I read somewhere that you send an email from your Wii to your PC email account adding them as a friend, then you reply to this, but don't open this mail on your Wii, and apparently the blue light stays on until you do. I think thats right anyway

The eating of the batteries is my major peeve with the Wii. Seriously, I could open up a battery recycling factory at this stage. I pre-ordered a Wii Charging station from blah DVD before Christmas and they emailed me on Monday to say that they hope to ship the last week in January:(

One more pet peeve I have is the speaker on the wiimote.

Especially noticeable when playing jingles in Zelda, the quality is awful.

Viewable high scores and Mii info.

Have 21 Miis 14 that are used and we remember our high scores rather than view them as you cant, for a game that wont go online at least viewable high scores would be nice.

    Tbh thats my main gripe.
