    Evening,

Just noticed Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are playin Vicar St on 26 January. I reckon it'll be an extremely exciting gig with Vic on bass.

Booked my tickets the other night. Cannot wait, it's gonna be amazing. For any Wooten ambivalences check out his bass solo on youtube for amazing grace.

So who here went to it?

Absolutely amazing gig, long time follower of the band, first time to see them live. In Victors solo segment I didnt think he was gonna play Amazing Grace, but by god did he!!!! Everyone was amazing, Béla's solo segment really REALLY impressed me, for those who werent there, he played the Banjo with his nose...............yes, his nose.

Jeff was also on a superb performance last night, even going as far as to crack out the second Sax for his solo on "Earth Jam"

A lot of stuff was played from the new album -The Hidden Land. From what I can remember they played P'Lod In The House, The Whistle Tune, Subterfuge

From Little Worlds - Reminiscence, Sleeper

From Left Of Cool - Sojourn Of Arjuna

And some other albums and a new song me thinks.

All in all, the best gig of 2007 so far and someones gonna have to try REAL hard to beat that.

Great gig and some spectacular music playing abilities shown. There seemed to be a lot of Victor only fans, where I was anyway, and they were really annoying, excessive shouting and wouldn't just shut up and listen and let the band play. It's as if they had just left a heavy metal gig and heard there was a good bass player in town called Victor so decided to go along to see if they could get his attention by how loud they shouted his name:mad:

I think a fight also broke out up on the Balcony, I was up there and didn't see it so it mustn't have lasted too long.

I'm really getting sick of concerts where people just wont shut up and listen, it's as if they go just so they can say they were there!

Yes, I know exactly what you meant. Those idiots shouting during Bela's banjo solo were driving me mad. Great gig though dispite a slightly disruptive audience.

Re the fight on the balcony, it happened just to the left of where I was sitting. Presume it was a bloke with a bit of drink on him causing a ruckus, he was thrown out anyway.

AMAZING gig! Best gig I've ever been to!

I found the idiots who kept saying "ssshhhhhh" more annoying than the 'chatters' - the shusshers ended up making more noise - idiots!

yeah, shusshers are the worst:mad: lol

RAGE! I can't believe I missed this gig! I love Bella Fleck. For anyone who may not know, Bella worked with a singer called Maura O'Connoll on an album called western highway.. it's kinda trad meets country and not that outstanding but his playing is just fantastic and her voice is really nice on some of the tracks. Not very jazz... but sure sometimes we have to listen to something else....shussssshhhhh

    I love Bella Fleck.

So much that you can't even spell his name...

Good for you. But you DON'T know how to spell the name of someone you "love".

Spelling doesn't really matter in music.

I put on music and let it play through from my MP3 player, I'd say I don't even know half of the names of songs I regularly listen to and "love";) Especially all the foreign language stuff I listen to, I even find it hard to remember the name of a classical guitar song I love and have seen the name of a lot from listening to it, looking up videos of people playing it on youtube and also trying to read tablature to it to play myself. I think it's something like Recurdes De La Hambre... I'll go get the right name now see how far off I was..
    "Recuerdos de la Alhambra"

    Well there ya go:D

Bela is even spelled incorrectly in the title of the thread. It doesn't matter.

Sure it doesn't. Next time you're playing music, play a D#7 instead of a Gmajor and see how well it works out for ya.

Sigh... why am I even bothering to reply to this:rolleyes:

You know that's not what I meant and you know that's a completely different scenario as opposed to adding an extra L to an artists name when the important thing is the music they play and not what their parents decided to name them.

Or is it because of the little piece of trivia of Bela being named after composer Béla Bártok that you're getting upset?
