Hi guys. Can I disable the pre-watershed pin request on a regular
box (not sky+). There are no kids in the house so this is just a
bother. If I try to set my VCR I'll just end up recording 'please enter
    your pin'.

It is a Thomson box with EPG 3.4.4b. BTW

I just found out the latest upgrade for SKY+ viewers lets you turn
this off. But regular Sky viewers are still screwed!

    Maybe I should complain :-)

If you are trying to watch or record on Sky Movies 9 and 10, if the film is rated 15 and its on before 8pm, you will get asked for the PIN, there isn't a way around this, PIN off or not.

    Yup, DMC is right.

Uthur, any chance of a link to that story regarding the disable option on Sky+ after later update?

This thread and others on Digitalspy discuss it. :(

Why can't regular sky customers have it too?

Maybe they will in the future?

Did the PIN thing disrupt Sky+ recording?

Apparantly they were up sh1t creek unless they were at hand
to punch in the pin when the programme started.

Pain in the arse not being able to tape 12/15 cert movies before 8PM
    or 18 cert before 10PM!!

Does it ask for a pin just before the film or would a minute or so later do it ? there should be loads on the web about getting pc'swith infra red dongles to just dumbly "record" the ouput of a remote control and play it back again.
I have definitely seen it for those remote control sockets you get.

COOL, my regular box upgraded itself to 3.5.3 yesterday and this problem
seems to be fixed! (fingers crossed)

It is 9.10PM and Usual Suspects is on Film4 (18 cert). I am NOT being
asked for a PIN the way I was a few days back.

This may only apply to Irish viewers. The OFCOM rules that forced
SKY to implement this crap only have legal force in the UK so SKY may
have let us off the hook in Ireland (I hope) :-)
