    Hey all,
I've want to get a small and cheap mini hi-fi for the bedroom (around 200/250 quid).

Can anyone recommend anything that has decent enough sound? (I ain't expecting the earth for that level. But someone here must something good in the kitchen as a second system or something).

    Cheers,
    Quad

Was looking at something like this

What exactly do you want to listen to? A good amp and CD Player (plus your PC), combined with a speaker system like the Wharfedale Xaurus or JBL Control 1's would make a great system at an ok price. You can get very good quality audio gear on eBay for greatly reduced prices - check around now particularly after christmas as a lot of people sell stereo bits to pay credit cards!

NAD do a few 'Receivers' which combine a good amp and tuner. Put that together with a CD Player (or even a 5-disc'er) and your MP3's and you've got a great system.

Remember in a lot of 'mini' systems you're paying for the useless multicolour displays on the front and a tape deck you'll probably never use. The speakers with some of these systems aren't really great either for the price you pay.
