NYC trip in Feb - security?

I'm heading off to NYC once again at the start of February. I've been a couple of times, but not in 2 years.

    So my query is:
With the recent and numerous changes to airport/flight security, is there any special pre-cautions I need to take regarding packing & hand luggage? Or anything I need to be doing in the meantime so that come check-in time, all is in order and I am setup for a smooth run through US Immigration?

I've been googling and looking through the Aer Lingus site but would like someones recent personal experiences too - just to convince me and re-assure me.

    Cheers!

Here's some security stuff off the DAA website assuming your going Dublin > NYC direct. http://www.dublinairport.com/plan-your-trip/tips-and-advice/packing.html

Check also the airline website you are flying with eg www.aerlingus.com for furter details regarding baggage allowances etc. If your going direct you will go through US Immigration at Dublin Airport before you board the plane and only have to deal with US customs when you arrive in the US. Any other questions ask away?

I've just come back. Nothing major that I noticed. Immigration ask you where youre staying, have you been before and what you do for a living. Was very quick.
It was the usual about the clear plastic bag and no liquids above 100mls to get into the secure part of the airport.

You have to have everything in a clear plastic bag? Is that right?

I assume you can bring phones / MP3 players / wallets on board with you still?

No, only waters, liquids, gels, wet stuff basically, in the clear bag.
    Everything else is fine.

Thanks guys for the replies. I just wanted some confirmation from someone who has been through their processes very recently.
You know yourself, what the websites say versus what actually happens can be two very different things!
