i know this is a question thats asked a lot but here i go anyway. im puttin together a new comp and i was lookin for some advice on what to get, i want a good rig for serious gaming.

basically; mobo, cpu, memory, psu, hard drive (ill be tranferin a couple of the ones i have already, but i want a new one) a dvd burner (but i should probably be ok pickin it myself), graphics card, maybe a sound card (but il prob be ok with the onboard) think thats about it.

amd or intel? i dunno, i have an amd computer at the min, i put it together a while back but im a bit outta touch with whats good now. i thought amd were better for gaming but i hear the new dual intels are kickin butt? as for the gfx card i was thinking the the ati x1950 xt or the geforce 7950gt? which do you think, or something different altogether?

im lookin at about 900-1000 euro

    Thanks guys :)

    CPU: Core2Duo E6600.
Ram: 2 gigs of corsair value ram should be fine
    Psu: i'd recommend a 480watt or possibly 530watt.
hard drive: Whatever ya want. Remember to check if your new motherboard takes IDE drives if you want to transfer IDE drives to your new computer.
dvd burner: Nec are generally a good make to go for.

I have a gigabyte 965p-ds4 motherboard, not sure what else is around nowadays. As for graphics card, it's up to you. Gamer or not? ;)

how come intel are beatin amd? what happened to amd? :(
yeh i was thinking around a 500w psu should do. as for hard drives, id be movin over 2 of them, i think a lotta new mobos only have one ide slot so id haveta get a converter.
the graphics card, well the computer would be pretty much just for gaming. i was thinking maybe the 7950gt or the x1950xt?
