Doing this test tomorrow in the Public Service office on Abbey St.

Got the test booklet from the publicjobs.ie website and it all looks very straight forward but just wondering if anyone knows how long the exam takes (I'm doing it at 2.30 and told work I'll be taking a long lunch as hoping it'll only be 1-1/5 hours)

Anyone done this test, I know they've been running them since October!

Could you expand on that please?! ;)

No seriously it is. It's an insult to intelligence. Basically if you are able to count, file? (Dont ask you will find out on the day), spot mistakes and read, you should get on just fine. I did the test last year for the craic (I had no intention of taking any job with the civil service, worked there for 3 months and it was plenty). Unless you cant get any other job stick well clear from the Civil Service, you will be board out of your tree.

But being able to write obviously isn't essential...

You're obviously a very sensitive little boy.
Maybe when you're all grown up and finished school you'll be able to take helpful criticism.

Are they still accepting applications? I worked with Revenue last summer and applied a few months back but didn't bother going for the test as I hated the work (civil service is incredibly mind-numbing boring work). But now I think I may have made a mistake, as there's a recession coming and I might be laid off work in June :(
