Signal Breaking Up

Over the last few weeks my Sky signal has been breaking up on certain channels while others are perfect.
Today I got the ladder out and decided to see if there was a problem.
I adjusted the dish slightly and tightened the nuts .
Its sturdy now and the signal strength is at about 75%.
However a few channels still break up alot, mostly the Irish 4;RTE1,RTE2,TV3 and TG4.
The rest seem pretty good .
I know the dish is correctly aligned as I checked the signal on a FTA Comag box and it was strong.
The cable is fine too .
I'm getting fed up now of the signal breaking up .
Has anyone else encountered this problem, perhaps its RTE's fault ?

Is there any poor joints in the cable run?

What make and model is the digibox?

I have had similar problems over the last few weeks especially after the storm on the 31st Dec. Sky one, bravo, biography channel, bbc3, paramount, movie channels breaking up regularly when its windy. My signal is about 30 - 50 percent today. Seems to be a weather problem, gonna get someone to look at the dish tomorrow as i have a height phobia!

Signal Quality should be a minimum of 50% usually. Signal Strength is usually irrelevant.

I had that problem a few weeks ago..........I rang up sky and they sorted it out for me after pressing a few buttons on my remote........

Its a Pace Digibox about 5 years old.
    Cable is perfect.
Signal Quality and Strength are both about 75%.

You were lucky you didn't lose your signal by moving the dish.

The tuner on the Pace box could be acting up, particularly if it's the 2200 or 2500 model.

    Otherwise, maybe the LNB

A few months back Sky News and the ITV Channels were breaking up while BBC and others were perfect turned out that the problem was with the lnb which somehow was not picking up the particular transponders. When I changed the lnb everthing was fine.

;) I've done a few installations in the past so I've learnt from my mistakes.

I have had lots of customers ringing me telling me the last few weeks especially over xmas their sky signals have been terrible. A few have had no tv at all. Of course when I visit to re align dish very strong signal and no break up. I am not a sky installer I install non sky sat stuff and just re align dishes for people I know to save them a small fortune. I have put bigger better dishes up for people to replace the sky dishes and this does seem to solve 3/4 of problems.

I know over xmas I lost a few channels off 28 east with a 1.1m, but that was during severe hail!!!

Sky digi boxes do sem to be very temprementle alright, even the new ones seem to be the worst!

I have a mate who has his sky box looped through another and when that reciever is on sky news the sky box will break up even if signal is strong!!!
