Wii VC suggestions?

Well I finally got my wii on friday. Been enjoying wii-sports, zelda, monkeyball.
Just wondering what of the VC titles anyone would suggest are worth looking at?

Are there any must-haves for it?

The first game you should be getting is Gunstar Heroes. Excellent game.

only bothered with golden axe, good if you have a friend for 2 player.

Did anyone get mario 64? i've never played this, is it as good as super mario world?

I picked it up, it's a fantastic game but i'm not playing it that much... i want a real retro fix, Street Fighter II (i know it's not the best version) and Gunstar Heroes are next on my list.

i have some N64 and snes emulators on my xbox and PC so i dont really see the need for the VC.

i have been playing Mario 64 for ages and it is great. it took me awhile to get used to the controls after spending so much time playing old skool mario but now i love Mario 64.

and dont forget Mario Kart 64. get some 2 player action going and it is a great game.

Mario Kart 64 isn't out yet on the VC.

I think the best game on it so far is Gunstar Heroes. I didn't feel the need to get Mario 64 again, as I still have my N64 with it, and also have it on the DS.

Bomberman '93 is great for a bit of good craic on multiplayer

Gunstar Heroes is a must.

I've also downloaded Bomberman for mulitplayer - it's great fun.

Bit off topic I know, but I think one of the best things I've read recently is that treasure want to develop games for the Wii

I hope they develop another Gunstar Heroes style game (I think Metal Slug is pretty similar too) for the Wii as well as an Ikagrua (sp?) style one. I never could find Ikagrua for my cube...

If you have a PS2 then I suggest you get Gradius V. It's Treasure developed even though Konami didn't really credit them and it's also awesome, by far my favourite PS2 game ever.

Treasure are currently doing an xbox360 game but said they would like to work on the Wii once they get that out of the way.

Think i posted in the gaming bargain thread when it was up on simplygames and play... long gone from both of those sites though, so ebay would be your best option...

as far as VC games go, the only one that i've got good value out of so far is Donkey Kong Country... classic stuff:)

Only VC game I've bought so far was Super Mario Bros. Was the first time I ever saw or played a Nintendo so had to get it for nostalgia's sake. Still fun too

Am I right in saying a GC controler wont work with a clasic game only GC games?

i got it for 20euros over in game in manchester by pure luck. mint condition too. wasnt too sure what to expect. its good alright, hard as we all know but not a lot else to do in it.


Astro boy(gb version of course) was a great game by treasure I thought.




There hasnt ben much on th VC i have wanted as of yet and I have emulators and the like but I cant sit in front of a pc playing games for some reason.

Solomon's key is one that brings back old memories as does altered beast. I really want to give super castlevania IV a go as well.

Hopefully Nintendo will do some things like add online multiplayer to some of the games like they did on XBLA.
