Cheers Gypsy boy! Richest club in Ireland now after years of zero cash..

3 is ridiculous if it should be 2. If it starts at 2 start it at 2 and feck the lazy bastards.... a lot of us have to work on Monday. So a 2 or even 1 start should be maintained...

sory for the rant Mike, I know your trying to run a business and keep everyone happy. Just something to consider.:D

never been out that neck of the woods. How much would a taxi from city centre cost? How many runners does this usually attract?

Usually around 100. If you mean a taxi from Drogheda town centre to the hotel - about €6.

    Hi Guys.
Looks like I'll travel up for this.
What time does this usually finish up and how many runners are you expecting. Thanks.

Usually around 2am finish dependant on numbers. Can be 70-130 runners hard to predict, lot of people coming who have not been for a while so expecting towards the higher level.

OT: Nickname = Champion Chase ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

    Thanks Tim.

Champion Chase is an interesting one this year - I dont like Newmill and last seasons novices arent that hot. If the ground came up soft then id be on Nickname, if the ground has the word "good" anywhere in the description then Nicknames chances are seriously reduced. As far as the ground goes for cheltenham you can be all but guaranteed that the ground on day one will be no better than Gd/Sft. The course took considerable slack last year over the number of casualties and have ensured all season through that the ground has been maintained on the easy side - imo this wont change for the festival and the opening days ground will be on the easy side - of course when they tamper with nature it often bites them in the ass so a good evenings rain might see soft ground on Wednesday. The race looks like being a poor renewal and the 12/1 currently available wont be available on the day if he runs and if the ground comes soft id expect him to be no more than a 4/1 shot - it may be worth having a speculative few quid.

Was thinking the same re: ground. I'm heading over so I'll see when I'm there. Still think 12/1 is a great price. Although he may do the Ryanair. We'll see what happens. Better kill this before the mods kick us in the nads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

The horse deffo will not run in the Ryanair Chase - he wouldnt get 2m5f at a track like Cheltenham unless he was driven around in a horsebox. Its Champion Chase or nothing for him. 12/1 is a great price if he runs. Brassil is a realist and knows that the horse can win every 2m chase over the winter months in Ireland and amass KKKK's in prizemoney on heavy ground without risking a horse who has already been out of the game through injury on unsuitable ground in the festival. He is no better than 50/50 to run imo. Brassil wont be blinded by "festival mania" and run for the sake of it.
