Does anybody know when novice 4yo hurdlers can expect their first handicap mark? Our horse has run numerous times and even won (!!) and I see in a couple of weeks time 4yo's can enter the handicap hurdles, therefore their marks will have to be announced soon !! No 4yo's have as yet been handicapped though, nor any pre-Jan 1st as 3yo's and Turf Club not replying to my mail. Think the ratings are released every Tuesday so maybe tomorrow?

Dyin' to see how far below Lounaos they have us..........especially with her connections keen to take on the Inca.....

a horse gets a handicap mark after three runs officially but the handicapper has a fair idea after 1 or two for example if ur horse wins first time out it has to have a mark it automatically qualifies for handicaps -u can contact noel o brien directly for the horses mark if ur an owner or ur trainer should have already so to plan what sort of handicap to enter into ie the conditions -

ring the turf club and ask for him directly or he is at most race meetings or his assistant is sandy they should put u right -have u checked the irish field they print the handicap marks on saturdays

No, unfortunately it's different for 3yo novice hurdlers, there are no handicaps for them so no marks are published. Whether they have run 3 times, won or whatever. But since Jan 1 she is now a 4yo but the handicapper has not as yet set any marks for 4yos. As I can't get access to a phone to call the Turf Club during the day I was just wondering if anyone knew what date they first get assessed. Just impatience on my part really cos as they are eligible for some handicaps in the coming weeks the ratings will no doubt be published very shortly.

Bear in mind that Lounaos hasn't had to produce anything special so far to win any of it's races. I think I've yet to see the whip being used. I wouldn't read too much into the ratings as Lounaos has been doing just the right amount to win against pretty ordinary animals, the ratings won't tell the real story.

if ur horse won as a three year old it has a mark -get ur trainer to do his job if u cant get access to a phone ,he needs to know what the mark is more than anyone -

to prove a point -a horse called angels share ran as a three yr old on 26 oct
26 nov and 16 dec in 3 yr old maiden hurdle -it ran on sunday in naas in a 4 yr old handicap finishing 5th off a mark of 83 check it out in results if u want but i know im correct on this subject

if u want me to get ur horses mark for u pm me but there has only been about 8 3 yr old hurdle winners (i think-open to correction)

best of luck any way horse must be worth a few bob now -sell sell sell lol

Yep indeed, I talked to Mr. O'Brien yesterday, a really nice guy he is. He too mentioned Angel's Share running well on Sunday off a mark of 83 (he thought he had finished 6th, he was actually 8th). He did however say that it is his assistant that handicaps the novices and he would get him to call me, I await !!

With regard to our trainer doing her job and knowing our mark (which in fairness she most probably does) my main point of interest was to see the official marks of all the eligible 4yo's for nosiness and interest value, that was all.

As I said before, all handicap marks are published on the Turf Club website on a Tuesday. However, while a whole host of 4yo's would now have/qualify for a mark most of them are not published. Anyways I suppose all I can do is watch out........

Thanks for the help. We won't sell her just yet, waiting on JP to better his offer.............:o
