    Hi

Just wondering, if I was to get the West Wing complete series collection from Amazon.com for $191.97 (€147.52), presumably I'd get caught for import duties.

Any idea how much extra I'd have to pay?

Xtravision are selling it for €220 at the moment which is what Amazon.co.uk are selling it for which I was sort of surprised at.

you shouldnt get charged anything extra because you are getting it shipped from within the EU...don't ya love the Free Trade embargo :P

    ????

The Amazon.com stuff is from the US, so there would be tax liable.

The Amazon.co.uk site is from the EU, so it'd be OK. (Pointless though, as it's as cheap to buy over the counter)

I'm not sure how likely you are to get hit by customs but the best I can find this side of the pond is choicesuk.com £144.99 here
Its not as cheap as the US but you can use this 10% discount code thats valid until midnight 10/01/07: MAD2007
    P&P is £3 per order.
I've just received my first order from them today which I'm well happy with.

Any Amazon.com stuff I've received is shipped from the US. So tax has been liable (i've been billed more often than not, but I budget for it all the time and only buy it if its cheaper with VAT charged)

Watch out for Amazon.co.uk purcahses they charge Irish vat. The prices listed are therfore not the price you pay to have it shipped here. Price shown is with UK vat of 17.5% and WILL be changed to 21% when shipped here. Got caught once and checked out the EU rules. Once a company does aenough business in another country they have to register for vat in that country and charge locla vat rates. EU trade is free but it is also restricted.

Can anyone answer the OP's original question? Are you charged VAT or VAT + other charges? It's being shipped from the US.

From a previous play.com thread, 20% on the cost of the item + shipping and another fiver for administrative costs.
