    Just wanted to start a new thread to make sure everyone knows this about the National Student Poker Championship 2007;

Online Registration Only - Closing on Jan 25th

I should have posted this last Friday but just wanted to let everyone know that this tournament will only be available to all players that register online before January 25th.

Any player that turns up with cash on the day will not be able to play.

All online registrations must be complete by Jan 25th.

I know this makes things a little awkward but this tournament is offering great value and I'm going to a lot of effort myself so I don't mind asking players to do the same.

On the day all players will simply take the seat that is assigned to their username.

We will be checking that all players are over 18 (bring passport/drivers licence if you look under 21).

All winnings will be paid into the username of the relevant players (no stipulations to withdraw).

    Please register soon.

this means everyone reading this has to do their bit in registering everyone!

have a facility open on the day i think i.e. a computer or two to get people registered. or mayeb say " come to RDS on thurs to register" and accept cash to be put online or sign them up there.

I could really do with some help in getting players motivated to register online.

We will not be able to accept cash on the day from anyone......Not because Pacific say so but its actually the law right now.

If this tournament isn't supported well by the student population it will most likely never happen again, imo.

It's the law that Cash can't be exchanged for a Poker Tournament (outside of the gaming clubs, I presume)?

So are VN and JP Poker and GJP (amongst others) contravening this law?

Basically, consumer behaviour isn't rational and people who would be happy to pay cash aren't willing to register in a more difficult way. I, myself don't believe that this tournament will get a large field anymore and I probably won't play now... It's a shame because it sounded good at the time.

I hope I'm proved wrong however, but those who I've attempted to persuade were not gonna register online no matter what I said because they don't play online ever.

Yeah, its the law in Dublin right now but not many people know or care about it......

In Drogheda its possible to get a gaming and lotteries licence for outside of a casino/members club but not in Dublin.

The thing is that its only technically against the law and its under review right now but to have a sponsor like 888/Pacific on board we had to go by the exact word of rule.....And the barrister and solicitor I got were experts in this stuff.....

    Thanks for the support.

Anyway I really shouldn't have mentioned the law thing as its going to lead to this thread going off topic......Players that were wondering if it was going to be possible to pay cash on the day need to know that you can't.....

We're working on a plan whereby players can pay their entry fee in advance without lodging money online and believe me the second we get it worked out I'll be letting everyone know.

Also, none of these guys are breaking the law... lol....Its to do with the amount of money on the premises etc....

I still don't get why you aren't playing yourself when there is $1,000 added between only 30 players registered??? But fair enough, if you don't think its value ot whatever.

Believe me.......I hope you're proved wrong too.

I think thats just an excuse being used by Mr Legend_Dit, just likke why conveniantly anto and jeff are skiing at the same time as the tournament is on.... they feel like playing in such a tournament will have them outed in the poker community for the type of players they really are....

I see.....Are you going to stand for this type of talk legend? or are you going to prove your poker skills in a real tournament?

DIT Aungier Street Wednesday week for anyone that wants to get registered but can't......Don't forget though, if you can register before Jan 14th (this Sunday) you have a chance at an added $1,000.

I'll probably be there playing poker next Wednesday despite it being the day before my final exam!

Ha ha, I will sell ten percent of myself, but bare in mind I do have a lot of costs for this particular event.

    Transport: 450 (stretch limo baby)
Tux Rental 250 (louis C is doing me a good deal on this)
Accomadation: 499 x2: 998 (Obviously I'm staying in the bewleys Royal suite, I can hardly make my way back over the northide, it might make me groggy for the final table, oh and the second night is just for the ladies, giggady giddady.

    Buy in: 72

    For everything else there's mastercard.

Oh yea so basically I'll sell ten percent of myself for 180e.

Sounds like a bargain to me.
